Alton Towers Hotel (England)
Advantages: Something for everyone, fun, food and family time
Disadvantages: Can be expensive
WOW! As a family of 6 we've been to Alton Towers a few times, but had not stayed in the hotel, until now. The drive from Newcastle is about 3hours, and over the years we've stayed in a log cabin, travel lodge, local pub and caravan park, but the benefits of staying in the hotel overshine all of these.
As soon as you arrive the parking is free, the reception staff cannot help you enough, and even though you shouldn't have your room till after 3, they will store your bags so you can head straight to the park, or soak up the fun in the Splash Landing hotel which is next door. If the room is ready the staff are happy to let you have it earlier.
The bedrooms are pretty standard, but you have tv with sky and option to buy movies. It is possible to upgrade to a theme room eg chocolate room, which we seen which would be great for a special occasion, and has little freebie chocolate bars. There is tea and coffee as well as biscuits provided free and shower gels and soaps.
You can either use the monorail to get to the park, or you can walk through a woodland walk which takes about 20mins, it isn't suitable for pushchair or wheelchair users.
The park is also available an hour sooner for hotel guests and breakfast is included. It is self service and you can eat as much as you want, it caters from full english, to cereals and crossants. In other words theres something for everyone again the staff are very helpful and nothings to much trouble.
Look in the newspapers for special offers and also ask if they'll price match if you get price on net cheaper.
You can also charge things to your room, so saves carrying cash around. In addition the restaurants within the hotel do special deals eg carvery 9.99, they also have less formal dining where you can get a sandwich from the bar,or a pizza from snack bar.
The gardens around the hotel are lovely with a walkway, pond and ducks, you can even buy some food to feed them. All in all a lovely treat that both the adults and kids will love! Let dad take them to the park and ladies treat yourself to the spa, its fab and I highly recommend. Enjoy!
Summary: The Hotel of dreams, great food and entertainment for all
