Newest Review: ... to our room and we wrote down what paper we wanted. We were then shown to our room. There were quite a lot of stairs up to the room and no lift, so this hotel isn't accessible. It is an old building so this is the reason why. The room was lovely. It was small but it was very contemporary. The bed was so soft and there was a mini-bar. The items in the mini-bar were normal prices so you were paying a little over the odds for a bottle of wine, but not loads. The Amherst Hotel is situated in the Kemptown area of Brighton, just a stone throw from the prom, and a 5 minute walk to the famous pier. I stayed there twice in 2007 and would have stayed there more often had I not moved to Brighton at the end of 2007. This is my only regret about living in Brighton, the fact that I can't stay in this hotel again. The Amherst is a small boutique hotel. I personally prefer this type of hotel to the bigger chains as there is more character.
