Advantages: Beautifully decorated, cosy, fab food. Everything!
Disadvantages: Nothing
I stayed in this hotel a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. We got a last minute deal for a double room for £120 for a Saturday night. Tower Hill and Aldgate are the closest tube stations to the hotel (about 5 minutes walk).
We found the hotel very easily and check in was quick and efficient. The hotel is situated in a lovely area right beside London Bridge and there are a few restaurants and bars around.
When we checked in we went up to the room straight away and we were very happy with what we found. The rooms are very modern but cosy at the same time. It is obvious that the Apex chain used an excellent interior designer as the hotel looks swish, from the reception, to the bar and up to the rooms. Our room was spacious and had a flat screen tv, a desk, a massive king-size bed accessorised with cushions and a runner. The bathroom had a bath and a separate walk in shower. There was a funky pink rubber duck that you could take home with you, courtesy of the hotel! The toiletries were a blend put together from the hotel and were very luxurious. There was shower gel, shampoo and body lotion (all 250ml). Everything was spotless as well and the bathtub is really deep and I had such a nice relaxing bath!
There was a fridge (which could be stocked if you want) and I found this handy as we stocked it with some water and Lucozade, in preparation for the hangover of the next day!
You could order room service if you want but we opted to have dinner in the bar downstairs. There were 3 of us and the meal came to £81.00 which was excellent value, especially as the meal was delicious. I had mushroom soup for starters and it was unreal that was followed by steak and chips and then for dessert- strawberry cheesecake with basil sorbet. Yes, basil sorbet and it went so well with the cheesecake.
We checked out at 12 noon the following day (after snacking on the choc chip Belgian cookies and tea in the room). Check out was friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.
There are other Apex hotels in Edinburgh and Dundee and plans to open more in London.
