Advantages: They take dogs

Disadvantages: Not much open in Autumn

For the last couple of years we’ve been spending a week in Newquay in October. Being fair weather campers and as we like to take our dog, we opted for renting a caravan. Trevelgue Holiday Park is ideal. During October it costs around £99 for the two of us to rent an eight berth caravan (they only allow dogs in the larger caravans) for a week. The caravans have 2 rooms, 3 beds in one, a double bed in the other and the lounge converts to a double and a single. The cost includes the electricity and gas which is brilliant, especially at that time of year when you need the heating on. The park has a small arcade, and fish and chip shop, a nightclub etc. Having only been there in autumn when the majority of it is closed, I can’t tell you more but check out the website. However it is set back about a mile and a half from the coast in a valley which is beautiful. It takes about half an hour (ok I walk slowly!) to the headland which is awesome. From the end you can see all up and down the coast and check out the local surfers! The town of Porth has some shops, another campsite and a pub. There’s local buses into Newquay which is really not far and the taxis don’t cost that much.
I’d give this campsite a thumbs up if you want to rent a cheap and cheerful caravan out of season – we’ll be going back again this year and the dog can’t wait!
