      Very helpful

A very nice guest house in the Lake District, I highly recommend it.

Easter bank holiday weekend and I fancied a trip to the Lake District. It's only a 2.5 hour drive away, but I much prefer staying for the night so the thought of driving back doesn't ruin the day! We have stayed in Keswick before, but this time when I looked online I basically browsed through a list of B&B's and e-mailed a few asking if they even had any rooms available for the Easter weekend, and if they were willing to let us have one for only 1 night, as many have a 'minimum of 2 nights' limit on weekends.

I came across The Beeches Guest House and after a couple of e-mails; I was pleased to have a room booked for the night. There were some great reviews on TripAdvisor, and it looked clean and modern, it makes a difference in the Lake District where modern is quite hard to come by! The room was priced at £80 for the night, not too bad for the Lakes, and it was one of the King Sized rooms they do.

The guest house is on the outskirts of Keswick, probably a 10-15 minute walk away; however the house itself was beautiful. It is just off a busy road but there was a huge amount of room outside to park cars. We rang the bell and were greeted by a man who showed us to our room whilst he went to get our keys. He asked what time we would like breakfast, and what we would like, and we choose a good old English breakfast.

The room itself was huge, much bigger than I was expecting. The king sized bed was really 2 single beds pushed together, but it was extremely comfortable. There was a large wardrobe, a dressing table, and a table in the corner with a small TV on it. There were some lovely pictures of old scenes around the room, and the key for the door was like something out of Alice in Wonderland! We had 2 large windows in our room, one overlooking the front of the building and the main road, and the other overlooking the guest house next door, but you could also see the mountains in the distance. I was pleased that you could barely hear the busy road outside at all. The room was modern, comfortable and extremely clean. The en-suite bathroom was very nice too, small but not tiny, with a very large shower in it, and again all very modern. There was a small jar with cotton wool, plenty of hand wash and moisturiser, and even some shower gel in a nice container in the shower. We were supplied with plenty of clean towels and a bath mat. Back in the bedroom and into the wardrobe, there was a tray with various different types of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and 'Lakeland' biscuits.

The gentleman who had shown us to our room also said there was a guest lounge downstairs which we could use at anytime. We did poke our heads around the door on the way out to have a nosey, and it was a large room with a bigger TV, comfortable sofas and bookshelves. If we had stayed for more than one night we may have used this room.

After a good day out in the Lake District, followed by going to a couple of pub's in Keswick, we had a good night's sleep in the extremely comfortable bed. In the morning we went down to the breakfast room, where a lady was busy with the fire, a real roaring fire burning away in the fireplace when it was raining outside was lovely! The breakfast room itself is again, very modern with plenty of tables. We sat at a table at the window, where there was a vase of daffodils, very fitting for the Lake District. The lovely lady served me a pot of Earl Grey tea, and my boyfriend his own cafeterie of coffee. We were told to help ourselves to juice and cereals whilst waiting for our English breakfast, but I only got some juice. The breakfast itself was gorgeous, very typical with sausage, bacon and eggs and we were served some very tasty toast. We were certainly set up ready for our drive room!
After breakfast we got our bags from our room, and the lady brought a portable card reader so we could pay by card.

I really enjoyed my stay here and I certainly would not hesitate to come back here again! The rooms are excellent and the building itself is gorgeous. It is set outside of Keswick but that wasn't too much of a problem for us, as it was set right next to the road which takes you down to Grasmere and Windermere, and it also made parking easy which can be difficult at some B&B's in the centre of Keswick.
