I was recently looking for a cheap offer for Hotels in the Bournemouth area and saw a good deal for this hotel and thought I would give it ago. I have stayed in a couple of other Best Western Hotels, mostly for work processes, so know that their standards are high. The Hotel: The hotel itself was nice enough, in quite desperate need of refurbishment but clean and comfortable. When we checked in we were allowed to check in early as our room was ready, which was a nice touch. We were required to hand our keys in to reception before we left the hotel room which wasn't ideal as we often had to wait in a queue before we left the hotel. There was also scaffolding all over the front of the hotel, which I was slightly annoyed about when we checked in as they hadn't mentioned it when I booked the room. However, it really wasn't intrusive at all. The hotel was in easy distance of the beach, it took about 5 minutes to walk there, and about 10 minute walk into the main town. It was £67.50 a night when we booked it, although I'm sure this price changes regularly. The Room: The room itself was a nice size. There was an entrance area with a bathroom off to the left, and then the rest of the large bedroom. Enough space for a large writing desk, a small table and chair and a large double bed and a large wardrobe. The bedroom was clean and comfortable, my only criticism would be that the room was incredibly hot. The bathroom also failed to live up to my expectations. The shower was over the bath, which I don't mind at all. However, the bath was incredibly deep which means it was quite difficult to get into. I myself am quite tall, almost 6 foot, and yet still found it hard to climb in and out of. The Service: The staff in the hotel were all brilliant. The service was polite and friendly, without being overbearing. Our room was immaculate, both when we checked in and when they cleaned it after we stayed one night. THe waiting staff were really helpful and friendly, despite the early hour! They were happy to provide anything we asked for and nothing seemed like too much trouble. The Food: We only had breakfast in the hotel and so I can only really comment on that. However, the menu for the dinners looked amazing! I can't comment on taste but there was plenty of variety and interesting options. Having said that they could improve their choices for vegetarians. THe breakfast was a self serve buffet option with both hot and cold options available. In addition, the kitchen were happy to provide additions, I asked for poached eggs on one of our days there which came cooked perfectly.
Well check-in at the desk was quick and easy (the lifts need key card access which is good for security - you can only get to the first floor bar without this). Anyways off to the room we went and I have to say it was a lovely room (505) but there was one problem - a conjoining door...ugh I hate those things I am always wary and never trust them! we rang down to reception to complain and were told no problem we can get you another room so they sent us up to i think 810 we were thinking woohoo a higher floor nice one since we asked for a high floor to begin with! We opened the door and oh my goodness really!!!! there were no windows at all!! none, nothing! These rooms were kinda built in the middle of a corridor? there were other rooms on each side of the hotel and then these plonked in the middle like they just thought sod it we have enough storage rooms let make these into bedrooms, they were really like attic rooms with no windows...how would I know when it was morning? lol we rang and complained again only to be told they had no other rooms at all (lies the hotel was in no way full). We ended up having to go back to dodgy door room one :( Dont get me wrong it was a lovely room with loads of space, corner windows, flat screen tv, lots of storage, a fridge, safe, hangers, iron (leaky), ironing board, the bathroom was clean with toilet, huggggge mirrors and a big shower which held the heat well - the pressure was pretty decent too. The next thing we could hear voices and thought huh? where are they coming from there were no rooms after ours and it wasnt coming from next door, we looked out the windows and it wasnt anyone outside or from the club or anything then we realised it was super bad in the bathroom and we finally worked it that it was the man in the room above us, seriously he may as well of been in the room with us it was that bad but what could we do they had no more rooms blah blah blah! The first night we were there we went to champs bar in the hotel and had a few drinks and some chicken nachos which I highly recommend seriously they are good! we then headed down to wranglers downstairs as it was ladies night (ladies drink free) so we ordered ours drinks....had to pay for both!! I ordered a bacardi it was mostly a glass of alcohol with a dash of lemonade yum but no yuk there is no way on gods earth it was bacardi, I agrued with the barman he showed me the bottle I told him I dont care bottles can be refilled it was disgusting and I drink bacardi all the time! so we left there (I still necked my drink before going waste not want not haha). We went somewhere else where ladies actually did drink free and as it was my bday I got free shots too woohoo...note hotel didnt care that it was my 30th bday they did noting special whatsoever!! We got an ok sleep that night as we came home at I dont know when o clock after apparently eating a KFC that I only know about because my friend the toilet had share the next morning :( I know im gross but I was sick so there lol. That day we went to champs again for breakfast (well lunch you know hangovers) I had a club sarnie with chips and my hubby had some other gigantic sandwich with every meat possible in it....they were ok nothing special, the fries/chips were over fried and hard, the bread was nice, the tomatoes were ridiculously thick like they thought awk sure cut the tomatoe into 4 slices and shove in the bread there, we left a lot of food...the coke was nice but it was from a tine afterall lol. We went out and came back to the hotel later to get ready for another night out. Room had been cleaned and restocked which is great. We went to champs bar again to meet up with our friend so we could head on somewhere else....I went to the loo and as I walked down the corridor I though wtf my eyes started to water and my nose stung like crazy, I got back to our table and my friend went and asked the dorrman whats up...apparently there had been some trouble nearby with protests and the teargas that was used had all blown into the hotel, so all the doors were shut and we were advised to stay in the hotel/bar (they could of told me this before I went for a wee) Anyways we ended up having dinner there at about 11pm - as there was 3 of us we shared chicken nachos, chicken bites, chips with curry sauce - all of these things were nice even the curry sauce which I normally dont like, I do have to say that Champs is probably the best thing about the hotel, nice staff, decent prices, and open round the clock basically - plus they do frys with real pork/bacon! So we stayed there til around midnight our friend left and we thought oh well up early to drive back to saudi in the morning so off to bed we went and that was it off to bed but no sleep from the thump thump thump of the nightclub and we could hear women in other rooms cackling like witches...also someone must of ordered some onion filled room service because all of the corridors on our level stunk to high heaven. We tang down to reception and they told us that the nightclub shuts at 2/3am and it would be quiet then....great 2 to 3 hours of noise no proper sleep for us! The next morning we were completely shattered, didn't have breakfast because on check in no one actually informed us where they served breakfast incase we wanted to buy any! We waited on our taxi and checked out - it was quickonly because the staff cant be bothered holding a conversation with anyone. We stayed here one time before and it was friendly in fact the last time the staff couldnt be any more helpful, quiet (higher room), clean/smelt nice, proper drink in wranglers downstairs bar and plently of rooms that didnt have joined doors!! now its a bit less personal, staff don't care and don't want to help and we will defo not be staying here again, we will go back to the Diva hotel where we usualy stay and won't mind paying that wee it extra. This is at best 3* hotel! (also on ciao)
we stayed last week at the best western in tiverton devon, a lovely quite and clean hotel ,we payed £74 for a buisnes class room booked on the net, 2 adults 1 child , with free buffet english breakfast, incidentaly the breakfast is great , cereals toast fruit , full english , tea coffee croissants top tip , if you book on best western.com you can save appx £20 on a nights stay , compared to booking direct with the hotel, the room was a good size, hotel is 3 star , business class means you get a new flatscreen telly !!. beds were fine , shower was very powerfull. free parking onsite , 24 hour desk, pleasant staff ,theres also an onsite bar and restaraunt, the tiverton is not far from the motorway, and handy for reaching most of devon.in the local area theres a 24 hour tesco , very handy for petrol food etc , and the bars and restaraunts of tiverton are five minutes away in a taxi, this was my second visit here , and for the price , i struggled to find better,
I have just returned from a stay at the Best Western Ufford Park Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, having attended a wedding here on Saturday. The hotel itself is located just outside the town of Woodbridge in Suffolk. We travelled here from North Wales and it took us a total of 5 and a half hours to get here due to the traffic. Therefore after a long drive we just wanted to relax and chill out on arrival where we were meeting our friends. Our first impressions of the hotel were good. The hotel looks very large, but in fact has only 86 bedrooms, which isnt that many for such a large hotel I thought. The reception is clearly signposted outside and there is a large car park which can accomodate up to 200 cars and in addition there is also space for coaches or minibuses. The reception was large and spacious and there are numerous leaflets for local attractions should you be wanting to explore the local area. Check in was fast and easy and we were directed to our room. The only gripe I have with reception was that one of the girls was talking on the phone to another member of staff about a couple who had complained about a room. She was being very unprofessional and was being very disrespectful about this couple which isnt a nice thing to be listening to whilst checking in. Our room was a family room which was large and spacious and had a double bed and a single bed. The room was located at the front of the hotel and had large velux windows in the sloping roof which opened widely. This was great as the room was so hot with no air conditioning, so it helped in the evening in trying to cool the room down. The downside of these windows is that when it has rained heavily, water has obviously seemed through as there are large patches of damp on the surrounding walls which isnt the most attractive thing to have featuring in your room. As I mentioned previously, there is no air conditioning. There was a ceiling fan and also a conventional rotating fan stored in the wardrobe. Whilst these did help cool you down, I think air conditioning would have been much better. Our room had a large wardrobe, trouser press, ironing board and iron, tea and coffee making facilities, a large dressing area and a television. The bathroom was ok, not very modern and looked quite dated, but had everything you would need. From a health and safety perspective though, they have attached some large bottles of shower gel and shampoo to the wall, which is located above the hand rail to help you get in and out of the bath, and as a result these drip down onto the handrail causing it to be very slippy. Therefore, anyone having to rely on this handrail to help them get out of the bath could find it both difficult and dangerous. As they are attached to the wall, it is impossible for you to relocate them. There were only two medium sized towels in the bathroom also as opposed to a selection of bath towels and hand towels that you get in most other hotels, however we were provided with more on request. Our room was located on the second floor, which is the same floor as the main function room for weddings and parties and as a results this area of the hotel can get quite noisy late into the night. With having to have the windows open also to cool the room, we could hear everyone coming and going throughout the night along with the shouting and boistrusness of party guests outside. The resturant was nice, you can have a choice of an a'la carte menu or the bar menu. We chose to eat from the bar menu and ordered a club sandwich each and two sides orders of fries. This came to a total of £26 including two drinks, however had the menu been a bit more clearer then it would have cost a bit less than this. The menu doesnt tell you that the club sandwich already comes served with fries it just says sandwich, so we ordered the two side orders of fries which we ended up just giving to other members of our party. The food was very nice and enjoyable despite the confusion. It did take 20 minutes to actually order, but once we had ordered the food then came relatively quickly. The staff in the bar area seemed quite miserable and rude and we found this to be quite consitent with the majority of staff throughout the hotel. The breakfast buffet selection was fine, the sausages which are locally produced were delicious. The tables were very scratched however and not the nicest in appearance. Both tables we had on each morning of our stay were also propped up with a wad of serviettes underneath the table legs to stop them from wobbling. There is a choice of a hot buffet as well as a small selection of pastries, cereals, fruit and a variety of juice. Tea and coffee is also provided for you upon request. The wedding meal was absolutely delicious and the roast chicken dinner was probably one of the nicest meals I have had. Again though, the staff seemed really unhappy to be working and there were no smiles or politeness whilst serving. On the Saturday morning of our stay, we decided to make use of the leisure facilities. There is a spa on site which was quite busy with hen parties on the Saturday, and there is a price list available on the leisure reception. The pool, hot tub and gym facilites are free to use for guests, all other facilities are charged for and require booking in advance. We used the pool and the hot tub. You have to sign in at reception and you can also collect towels from here. What the lady at reception doesnt tell you though is that you require £1 for the lockers so I ended up just having to leave my clothing on one of the benches as I hadnt taken any money with me. Luckily I also had no valuables on me, otherwise I would have had to have ventured back to the room again. The pool was very quiet and there is a lifeguard present. The water temperature felt cool at first but became very comfortable after a few minutes. It isnt very deep either making it good for non-confident swimmers. I myself am 5'3 and could comfortably walk from one end of the pool to the other. The grounds the hotel is based in are lovely and it is situated amongst a large golf course. We didnt make use of this, but several other members of our party did and they said it was fantastic. Overall, the hotel was ok, it cost us a total of £173 for 2 nights including breakfast, but in my opinion this is overpriced. The hotel staff are miserable and unwelcoming throughout the hotel, which doesnt help to make it a great experience. I personally wouldn't stay here again out of choice, unless it was for the convenience of attending a wedding here again.
The Best Western Hotel chain wasn't one that I'd heard of until I got sent to work elsewhere in the country and this is where they booked me up! It's not what you would expect from your average chain; one thing a chain holds is consistency from branch to branch or hotel to hotel, because the brand has to remain consistent from one place to the next, but out of more than 280 Best Western hotels, allegedly each one is completely unique and charming in its own way, according to the website anyway, having visited only 1 myself, I can't really comment. As it was a chain, I was not expecting much in terms of quality but was pleasantly surprised when I walked into my room. The key card worked first time (which is a first for me) and the room surprised me. The television was huge for a hotel TV and the room was immaculate, clean sheets, well made bed, well presented tray with tea, biscuits etc, a kettle, hairdryer and all the usual basics that a hotel provides, such as shampoo, shower gel, soap, clean towels which were folded well and placed neatly on the end of the bed. The carpet was flawless and fluffy under your feet too - it really was that nice! On arrival, the reception staff were very polite and helpful, really friendly. The hotel itself is in a really nice location in Jesmond, only 2 miles out of the city centre so an ideal place of rest for a city break, night out, hen party, etc. Jesmond is renowned for being a beautiful, posh suburb of Newcastle's city centre and it is surrounded by predominantly houses, although there is a Subway, Tesco Express and Starbucks within easy walking distance, along with your local newsagent, a few restaurants and a line of pubs, all of which were packed outside because the weather was gorgeous when we got there. The rates for the room differ from weekdays to weekends in some cases and are as follows: Single rooms - from £69.50 (Monday - Thursday) from £52.50 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) Double/twin rooms - from £89.50 all week Triple rooms - from £115 all week Quad rooms - from £125 all week The breakfast selection was large and there were various options available; you could have the standard continental breakfast; cereal, toast, fruit etc or you could have breakfast delivered to your room. There was a card you could leave hanging on your door and you could select fresh fruit, yoghurt, pretty much anything you could want for breakfast, I don't remember everything but there was a massive selection, always the cooked breakfast option too! It all smelled really good when I walked downstairs in the morning and everything was really well presented. There is a restaurant and a bar in the hotel. The restaurant offers an A la Carte menu and a wine list and it offers a lot of international dishes as well as the traditional ones. The view from my window was nothing special, just the side of another building. I could hear church bells from my room, which was really, really nice as I have that at home too. It wouldn't stop you from sleeping or wake you up though. The bathroom was really nice too, everything was absolutely immaculate. The only thing that could even be classed as a drawback was the door to my room. Despite my initial luck on getting in there first time, the door was extremely difficult to close from the inside; it took me ages to close it, although it was easy for other people to close from the outside. Breakfast was between 8am and 10am and checkout was 11am. The staff ask if you want a wakeup call in the morning and will do anything to ensure you have a pleasant stay. I would definitely stay there again, even if not for work. Now for a few facts about location: 2 miles from Newcastle Central Station 7 miles from Newcastle airport 3 miles from the nearest motorway 30 minutes drive from the Metro Centre, but this is also accessible from Newcastle Central Station with a 10 minute train ride The Best Western has a total of 32 rooms with ensuite facilities and limited room service available. Unfortunately there are no lifts. The rooms are all non-smoking and anyone caught smoking is subject to a fine. They have on-site parking, a bar and restaurant facilities also. It has a 3 star rating and definitely deserves them, it was a lovely hotel and albeit for work it was an extremely pleasant stay.
( Review Submitted by me on Tripadvisor ) My wife recently ran the Pittsburgh Marathon ( I know, she's crazy !! ) and as we were only staying for two nights and it wasn't really a Vacation as such I decided to find a hotel that would be close to the Downtown Pittsburgh area while not paying downtown Pittsburgh prices, using my trusted tripadvisor site I chose the Best Western Parkway Center Inn as for the price ( $90 a night ) and the fact that its literally about 5 minutes drive from Downtown Pittsburgh you really couldn't go wrong. After driving from Buffalo NY we arrived about 9pm a little tired and my wife wanted to go straight to bed, as I literally finished work in Buffalo and jumped in the car to make the 3 hour drive I needed to grab a bite to eat, the very friendly and helpful staff gave me a sheet of places to eat that were "Nearby" but I couldn't find any of them, there was certainly nothing within walking distance and I ended up grabbing a sandwich from a supermarket which was in the same plaza as the hotel ( kind of ) so in that respect location was a bit of a minus, also I am a big believer in getting directions from the internet, however it turned out that the internet service in the rooms was down, ( it wouldn't return until towards the end of our second night ), but they did have a business center downstairs so I was able to access email etc, still it was disappointing. Overall the room was clean and had decent enough amenities and size, the service was friendly and although the continental breakfast was pretty much standard Bagel's / Toast etc, there are so many great places to eat in pittsburgh I really didn't see it as an issue, they do have a decent Pool and Hot tub which were of good quality and although we didn't explore the gym it looked decent enough. While our stay was disappointing in some minor aspects, overall it was tremendous value for money and its location just off the thruway makes it extremely accessible for downtown, while not paying downtown prices. I wouldn't recommend it for an extended stay or a family vacation, but for the business or casual traveller its perfect
I was lucky enough to get tickets for Radio One's Big Weekend in Swindon (2009), and so needed a place to stay for the weekend. After a very lovely stay in a Best Western near Sheffield (Mosborough Hall) I opted for another BW - The Wiltshire Hotel and Country Club. For £133, the two of us stayed for two night, with breakfast thrown in. I didn't think this was bad, so booked in. Have to say I was quite surprised that we got in so easily (only get notified if you get tickets a week or so before the event) as 40,000 people were going to the festival over the two days. So we set off to Swindon. After a long drive (I live in Peterborough, so it's about two n half hour drive, yawn!) we arrived in Wooton Bassett - the village just outside Swindon were the hotel was located. We even found the hotel rather easily. All praise the sat-nav inventor! The hotel looks pretty modern from the outside, set to the side of a golf course, so pretty quiet and lovely grounds to look at. We carted our bags into reception, and was dealt with straight away. It turned out we was in a suite, not the double standard I had booked. Great! The room was huge, the bathroom the kind I'd love at home, the towels large enough (I hate it when you find the 'bath' towel isn't big enough to wrap around you) and clean. The bed was comfy, even the pillow's weren't bad. There was an annoying alarm clock that beeped everytime you put the room card in the elec slot (like being in Greece the elec slot thing!) but my fella quickly unplugged that haha. The TV even had a few satellite channels, so we got to watch parts of the Big Weekend on the red button. When we checked-in we was asked if we'd like a table in the restaurant for dinner. As we didn't fancy driving back into town, we agreed, although we were told they had two parties in that night, so would after 8pm be acceptable. Dutifully, we dressed for dinner, and arrived promtly at 8.15 as booked. Now restaurant isn't exactly how I would describe the corner of the bar area that they'd cordonded off with tables in it. But hey, first impressions can be wrong, right? Ten minutes later, we were still stood at the bar waiting for attention. We did eventually get seated - without menu's. When one of the waitresses came to see if we'd picked yet, my fella (bless him) pointed out that we'd just nicked the menu's from another table, so hadn't chosen yet. When the waitress who seemed to be the best of the bunch came to take our order, we was told there was specials. Great timing! I do have to say, when the food came, it was delicious. It was just the staff that seemed to let the whole shebang down. We were seated next to one of the parties (was a bunch of golfing blokes, so it was alright) and when it turned out that the main guy was missing his dessert, and his pre-booked choice was off, it took him ages to get the staff to agree to get him a simply ice-cream. And even worse, when the waiter brough it out, he didn't even know which table it was for! The prices were quite normal, considering we were in a hotel. Although we did have to say three times that we were paying the bill, not adding it to our room. Breakfast the next morning was even worse. No-one was interested in us, so I had to nab a waiter to find out where to sit (anywhere you like, the answer) so we picked a clean table, although it wasn't set (none of the clean ones were) The waiter did give us some cutlery when he delivered the tea pot and toast. Shame really that he didn't think to also bring us milk and butter for the things he brought the first time.... I mean really, my fella had to fill a glass with milk from the buffet table just so he could have his cuppa, and we had to eat our toast dry. But again, the food was lovely. The second day's breakfast was almost as shambolic. Although we did get a table that was laid, we had to nick the milk and butter from another table. The restaurant staff really spoilt what was a pleasent stay. Besides them, I'd give the hotel four stars. There was notes up around the restaurant area saying they apologised, they were due a refurb, but it wasn't the decor that drags my rating down for this hotel.
I spent my time in Paris at the Best Western Au Trocadero and I just wanted to take some time to recommend them to anyone else interested in staying in Paris. The hotel itself is rather small but the modern decor decieves you into thinking it is substantially more spacious. The tiled floors and mirrored walls of the lobby give a pristine, clean look about the place, giving the aesthetics of an expensive yet comfortable place to stay. The staff on reception never failed to be welcoming and plesant, making you feel at home in a foreign country. However, unfortunately I must admit the cleaning staff were't as welcoming, and at a push could even come across as rude. Despite this they did a good job and the room always managed to be accessible and enjoyable to stay in. For breakfast there is an array of food on offer and enough time to sit and fill yourself up for the day (so you can avoid spending too much at lunch time!). The bi-lingual staff on hand are helpful and willing to serve you in the best way possible. When I booked our stay at the Best Western it was a good few months in advance, therefore the price was enviable and being a student the lower the price the better so that was certainly a great suprise! Furthermore for the price you are paying, the rooms, though sometimes slightly on the petit side, I assure you they are welcoming and have everything you need, including a safe you can use at your disposal for free. Now, I've definitely choosen to save the best feature til last...the Best Western Au Trocadero is a mere 0.1 kilometer from the Eiffel Tower and is in view from many of the window on the front. Therefore sitting right in the heart of the City of Lights, here lies a hotel that will impress those on a tight budget who want to seriously experience the flare of the city.
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Best Western in Albufera Portugal. I cant recommend this place enough. We booked this online through Expedia and only mentioned once in the booking form that it was our honeymoon but once we had got there they had upgraded us to a kingsize honeymoon suit room without any extra cost! They had also served chilled champage with chocolates and flowers and a congratulations card (printed in Enlgish)! Needless to say, this surprised my husband and I and began our honeymoon with a really nice warm feeling. The room was massive with a colour tv, hairdryer, trouser press and all the other mod/cons. It had a sea facing balcony with amazing views. There was a table and chair set on the balcony along with a sun lounger and coolie bag! I can honestly say I had never stayed anywhere before that had little touches that made a big difference to my time spent there. I felt that they were so flexible, accommodating and entirely customer focused, even to the point of giving me some cream for my heat rash! The waiter remembered us by name and spent time making us feel welcome and cared for before and after every meal. This particular hotel even had its own mouse prevention unit, he was Phantoma and was an adorable and friendly black and white cat! I honestly felt very well cared for and looked after and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anyone!
Castle Green Hotel Kendal Well more teambuilding going on at work. This time they carted us off to Cumbria to see how far we could push back those personal mental barriers while at the same time relying on the support of our colleagues in achieving our personal goals. Quite how climbing 40 feet up a vertical wooden wall achieves this, I am yet to work out. That said, I did climb it and then had the fun of abseiling down it too. As possibly the least fit member of the team I feel quite chuffed. But that tells you nothing about this Best Western hotel. Located on the outskirts of Kendal, around 9 miles from junction 36 of the M6, the hotel is set in large grounds with a mixture of traditional and modern looking buildings. The reception area is, peculiarly, set to the rear of the building but is large and welcoming with lounge, bar and restaurant openly attached. Checking in proved simple, even though I was not offered the obligatory wake up call or newspaper. Still, I was unlikely to have time to read the paper and the telly in the room was capable of being programmed to wake me up. Now, as my company has a Scot in charge, I found myself sharing a room with a male colleague. Not usually a problem. Until we found a 4ft double bed as the only sleeping facility in the room. Now, I am a big chap. My wife would not wish to share a double bed of this size with me. I certainly would not wish it on another bloke. And that is before all the macho stuff crosses the mind! While I am irritated at my company for not ensuring twin rooms, I am LIVID at the hotel for accepting the booking without pointing out that twin rooms were not available. I was even more livid when the receptionist told me that the inn was full and they had no stable or manger available for overflow. Fortunately, my room mate has obviously got a more assertive style. He managed to find another double room where a few minutes earlier there was none. Problem solved. But not by the hotel! The room itself had a temperature controlled shower that actually controlled the heat and power of the water! This I congratulate these people on. I have stayed in many hotels over the years and few seem able to provide shower facilities that do any more than freeze your gonads off or give you third degree burns. One criticism of the mat is that it covered the plughole so the water overflowed until I made an adjustment. Regretably, there was no bath. After a day that identified muscles I did not know still existed, a bath would have been wonderful. Nonetheless, a shower sufficed. Hotels in the UK nearly always offer tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Typically, most provide 2 cups, 12 tea bags, 12 coffees, sugar and sweetner. Oh, and 4 long life milks that on their own are not enough for a single cup. In other words, unless you want to hassle reception, you can only make 2 brews in your room! Congratulations Castle Green. You provided 8 milky things. This is a major achievement and I thank you for it. Ironically, the purpose of my visit did not give me enough time to enjoy this facility. But retain it! I mentioned the telly. Well, time did not allow me an in depth look. While I did find the telly controls a little cumbersome, I had access to all the channels I needed and set the alarm too. Right. What about the food? Well, the evening meal was excellent. Pork, roasties and veg followed by some sort of fruity dessert. Oh, and an excellent if expensive choice of wines too. Brekkie was full English and while I prefer my bacon a little better done than this, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had to do without toast as none of the restaurant staff offered it and we were also pushed for time. Any other things leap to mind? Well, there is a leisure club which guests can use free of charge. I failed to find it due to time pressur es but I am assured it is excellent. The hotel provides excellent conference facilities and also works with other local organisations in providing services for the corporate market. A company called Vertical Air provided our outdoor work. Set in woodland yards from the hotel you feel as if you are in the most remote corner of Britain. A range of challenges are put in front of you and you can amaze yourself with what you can achieve! Our group renamed the climbing tower as THE WALL OF DEATH. It certainly felt like that when I got stuck halfway up! A dramatic recovery saw me reach the top! Quite how I will now make better management decisions remains to be seen. It was tiring. It was fun. In Summary, Castle Green Hotel was adequate. The location is fabulous. The food was pretty good. The service was adequate. While typical room rates are £99 for 2 including brekkie, a range of offers are available that can half this. Oh, and I did not mention the pub in the grounds!
