Advantages: Lovely, clean, 4 star, nice location, quiet, modern ETC ETC
Disadvantages: Maybe the view from our window... however it didn't effect our stay!
Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Bracondale guest house in October last year, and even though the weather wasn't very good, we had a fab time! We stayed for four nights at a great price.
We're planning on returning to blackpool again this year and will certainly be considering to stay at the Bracondale again.
We had a twin room which had a lovely cosy double bed. The view wasn't the best! The view is described on the internet as being great however we must have hit the bad side as the only view we had was of someone's messy dirty back yard!
We had a giggle over this however and it didn't ruin our stay at all.
There is a toilet in the rooms; ours was on the right opposite the bed. The toilet had a door however ours didn't lock, which is fine though if you're staying with your partner! The toilet had a step up from the door and there was plenty of room. Imagine a cubicle with a window and a pot of fake flowers! This is what our toilet was like, and our toilet roll was topped up regularly! We had plenty enough.
There's also a bathroom which has a shower and a bath along with a sink and a mirror. Our mirror had a light which lit up the room lovely.
The bathroom was clean and tidy when we got there and our towels were replaced daily with fresh ones.
The actual room was plenty big enough, even with a double bed in; there was still plenty of room.
The bed sheets were gorgeous! They were from Primark so not the most expensive but were lovely! And the mattress was very comfortable too, so no complaints about the bed from me!
There's also a TV in the room however it's quite small. Ours was on a TV bracket in the corner of the room however we didn't use it much as we took a laptop with us.
In the room there's also a hairdryer, which isn't the best although it works and does the job!
When we first got into the room, we found a lovely set up of a kettle with two teacups, a pack of two biscuits and sugar and milk so you can make your own tea in your room! It was lovely to be able to have a cup of tea before bed.
There is also a small table with two small chairs and on our table was a fancy bottle with a little alcohol in it, it was quite strong although I don't remember what it was! There were also a handful of chocolates which we grabbed as soon as we found!
Overall, the room was lovely, very clean, tidy and modern!
The guest house is situated a little outside the main part of Blackpool. However we enjoyed the little walk to the centre every day. It took us about 10-15 minutes to have a slow walk down to the main part of Blackpool along the beach although we loved the area and it was extremely quiet!
The guest house is situated right near the beach, infact if you walk down the street and cross the road, you are above the beach!
The Blackpool lights can also be seen from the guest house! Perfect for the time of year we visited.
The lights looked beautiful in the dark and it was lovely walking back to the guest house each night!
Food in the Bracondale was lovely! It is a B&B and so they only provide breakfast, however there was a sign saying they also do sandwiches for if you get a little peckish! For a little extra price as this obviously isn't breakfast and so doesn't come with the price!
We had a fully cooked breakfast every morning which had everything! However they did ask us if we like mushrooms or tomatoes, which we both didn't! However take away this, we still came away satisfied! Toast is also served with your breakfast after being asked what sort of bread you'd like etc etc.
They also do a vegetarian breakfast and you can choose from yoghurts and cereal. They may also do other options however I didn't try them as I was fully satisfied with my English breakfast!
There was a guy in the guest house at the time who asked for scrambled egg on toast and they happily made it for him! So they're very friendly and willing to please!
There are plenty of food places situated around the guest house. We tried the fast food place just up the road from the bracondale at about 11pm at night and bought a lovely pizza! However you aren't allowed to take food into the guest house so we happy sat outside and ate it.
There's also an Indian, Chinese and Italian restaurant nearby! As well as the common fish and chip shops. That's just near the Bracondale however, and there are plenty more food places within the main of Blackpool.
The guest house does have wifi which is one of the reasons we chose this place to stay. However we were put on the top floor and so couldn't get wifi on our laptop at first!
Speaking with the owners however sorted this as they kindly 'moved the router' I'm not sure what they did but it worked! We had a very low signal but it was still usable and we were happy.
So how about the price? Well after searching on the internet for a few days before deciding on the Bracondale guest house, we found this house was one of the cheapest.
The price ranges from £28 to £36 per person per night for B&B and they also do discounts for long stays. We were very happy to pay less than £60 per night! It worked out at around £220 for the full stay for us, which we were happy at! Four nights with breakfast in a gorgeous room for a good price in a lovely location!
The owners are very friendly, there are just two people who own and live in the guest house. The same two people clean your rooms and cook your breakfast (with the help of a few kitchen staff) so there's no worrying about untrustworthy cleaners! The owners are very friendly and were always there for us when we had questions! They told us cinema information and taxi numbers as well as how much we should be looking to pay for a taxi to certain places!
The guest house is three floors high with about 3 rooms on each floor at an estimate. We know there weren't a lot of people staying as breakfast time were always relaxing and quiet.
There are 9 rooms in total and the Bracondale has an offer, rent out all 8 rooms and get the 9th room with a seaview free! A minimum of 2 nights stay.
There's a lovely little bench out on the front of the house for anybody wanting to sit and relax when there's nice weather. Or for when your boyfriend forgets his wallet and has to run back upstairs!
The stairs throughout the guest house are clean with a lovely carpet which I felt like I could bounce on!
This guest house is a 4 star, however to me it was just as good as a 5 star! I have no complaints at all!
The guest house doesn't cater for children under the age of 14. There was one child there when we were staying although mainly adults and mature people! So there's no worrying about the guest house being full of silly squealing children!
We were both 18 when we stayed at the guest house and call us 'old and boring' but we enjoyed the quiet and relaxed atmosphere!
We would certainly recommend this guest house to anybody! It is a lovely clean house with a great atmosphere and a great price!
