Advantages: AIR CONDITIONED, VERY UPPER CLASS, SWIMMING POOL AVAILABLE

Disadvantages: EXPENSIVE

The Marriott in Cardiff is one of the most expensive hotels in cardiff although from the services on offer there the prices are not unjust.

The Marriott is centred right near the gay part of Cardiff although is just off Saint Mary Street where the majority of clubs and pubs are. The train and bus central stations are also a short walk away and if you bring a car there is free parking with 24 hour security which makes it the safest place to park in entire Wales. A special code needs to be entered for you to drive out and so there is absolutely no need to worry about your car being stolen.

As i'm a student i could never afford normally to stay in the marriott although for a one off occasion on my friends 21ST i raided my piggy bank. The room cost £110 for two double beds(When i asked for a twin room i was abruptly told that there were no single beds in the entire hotel)and this brings me to the fact the phone operators had a superior complex and I ended up hating talking to them, I booked and hung up asap. Thankfully though the receptionists in person were more friendly.

Rooms are cheaper on the weekends although they book up very quickly especially if there's a rugby match or pop concert on.(I remember spending many days outside in the tipping down rain waiting for Ant and Dec when they were getting ready to Rhumble, ah happy days!)

The Marriott is suited for business people with all facilities readily available including a faxing service, you could ask for a modem if you needed to use an Internet connection, and a huge dressing table to wtite on. Most people i saw were definately claiming expenses from the company they worked for.

The room that i shared overlooked the centre of Cardiff and showed magnificent views ranging all the way up to Castle Coch and the start of the Merthyr valley I live in.(If you don't know Cardiff it's at least 5 miles away!)

The Marriott has it's own bar open to 1am
evry night, a gym club, and also a swimming pool which you are welcome to use during your stay but i didn't as i only stayed one night.

The actual bedroom was huge compared to hotel rooms i normally stay in with the bathroom being huge. You gat a colour t.v.which welcomes you to the room when you arrive and you can watch all the ususal terrestrial and satelite channels as well as being able to book pay per view movies. There is 24 hour room service and even Neutrogena soaps and bath products.

In every bar there is a mini bar although for a stupid reason there are sensors on each product and even if you pick up a bootle or can you are directly charged an extortionate price, around £6 for mini bottles of shorts! On each landing there is a ice machine and there is a bucket to put champagne in each room or a cheapie bottle of coke to keep it cold. Each room also has air conditioning where you can choose how hot or cold you want to be.

I didn't have breakfast as the cheapest was £15 and it would be impossible to make it worth that price. You could have it brought directly to your room though which could be better for some if its customers.

The Marriott is a fun hotel although unless i become Bill Gates in the near future I wont be able to stay there again!

I can't believe they charge you just for picking up a bottle - I hope you set them straight!
