We were then given our room key and made our way to our room Most of the hotel, if not all, is at ground level so the layout of the corridors and therefore rooms is sprawling and a lot of the rooms are quite a way from the reception, however all the floors are flat and when they are not ramps are provided so its easy to lug heavy wheeled suitcases around. Our room was quite large with a double bed, bedside tables and lamps, a table and 2 chairs to be sat at separately, a TV, a phone and some storage sp...more

Premium Review Copthorne Hotel London Gatwick: Comfortable night's sleep near Gatwick (783 words)
by - written on 25/08/09 (Very useful, 48 readings)
Rating:

I recently stayed at this hotel for one night as I had an early morning flight from Gatwick the next day. My husband booked it through lastminute.com just under a year previous to our stay. It cost £79.00 for an August stay. We travelled to Gatwick airport by train and picked up a taxi from there to the hotel which cost £12. It was approximately a 10 minute drive. I was quite surprised at the appearance of it when we arrived. Not knowing anything about Copthorne hotels I was expecting a Premier Inn type place. In fact, this hotel is a country house style-hotel, all brickwork and sprawling grounds (albeit most of the grounds are taken up with ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Rip off and rude staff - AVOID (125 words)

Don't whatever you do give them a credit card when you register. (Ideally don't even stay there.) They'll not only invent charges but you get no come back either. I wrote to the manager and got no reply. I wrote to the Area Manager and he was rude to me. I wrote to the CEO of the company and he ignored me. And this was the first night of my Honeymoon! I would rather sleep in Gatwick Airport than stay at this poorly run rip-off of a hotel. And while all of the rooms are on the ground floor, it means that most people will have a long walk to get from their room to anywhere else in the hotel. ...  Read the complete review

by - written on 28/06/01 (Very useful, 362 readings)
Rating:

I stayed in this hotel last week for two nights as part of a residential training program. The hotel is a short Taxi ride from Gatwick airport (costs about £7.50) and they also have their own shuttle bus but that comes around every hour (although it only costs £2). The hotel itself is built around a 16th century farm house (hence the title). Obviously they have built around and extended this farm house. There are conference rooms as well as a restaurant and a bar. Since it used to be a farm house, the land area is huge and I quite enjoyed the fact that it was not your usual business hotel (a huge pile of concrete sorrounded by other huge piles ...  Read the complete review
