Newest Review: ... I find the beds in this hotel really comfortable, not to hard and not to soft, I also find that compared with many hotels the walls at this hotel are very well soundproofed and have heard very little when stopping there. It's really a shame to see the once posh executive suites looking so run down, when I stopped there last April the handle fell off the window as I tried to open it, ... more

Copthorne Hotel Newcastle Upon Tyne HOTEL OVERIEW ..... I think most of us will know the Copthorne brand of hotels, they are part of the Millennium Hotels and Resorts chin. There are actually less Copthorne and Millennium Hotels in the United Kingdom than I thought, looking at their website there are currently 19 hotels in this chain. The Copthorne Hotel Newcastle is a 4 Star hotel, situated in on the outskirts of the Quayside. When I first used this hotel many years ago this area was very run down, however it is now a very vibrant area of Newcastle with other 4 star and boutique hotels located nearby, plenty of restaurants to eat ... Right on the Newcastle Quayside but slightly away from the hustle and bustle... but a 2 minute walk and you will be right in the centre of it. The rooms are clean and the brochures say modern... I would say average..... Clean but very plain and nothing really unique. Although on the quayside the hotel does not benefit from as good views as hotels in a similar price bracket do. I.e Malmaison and the Vermont purely due to the location. I did not sample the food but my colleagues said the food was very nice and the menu had plenty of choice and was not extortionate. As you walk in you are transferred to another place. The glass atrium shows off one of the spectacular features of the hotel, it's view. The River Tyne allows for a tranquel background for a relaxing weekend break. When ever we go to Newcastle this is one of our favourite places to stay. The setting provides a rich and romatic setting that lets love blossom and the world around you to melt away. Location: From North: approach Newcastle on A1(M), taking slip road A695 City Centre. At roundabout take 2nd exit and follow City Centre signs; at next roundabout take B1600 Quayside exit, hotel is on the right. From South: approach ... Read the complete review

When we stayed at the Copthorne Hotel in Newcastle we had a wonderful time, except for one small item, the trains! The hotel overlooks the River Tyne and every room has a riverside view, which is quite stunning, however this also means that it overlooks all the bridges over the river. The closest bridge to the hotel is a rail bridge and all night long trains crossed the bridge and the noise really did become very annoying. However, given the choice I would certainly return to this hotel. The facilities were very clean and the staff had the traditional North East, very welcoming and helpful attitude. The breakfast was outstanding, with a very large variety of hot ... Read the complete review
