I did not sample the food but my colleagues said the food was very nice and the menu had plenty of choice and was not extortionate. The staff are wonderful... I stayed here on a staff conference and had to leave the conference half way through and sat in reception for some fresh air. Right on the Newcastle Quayside but slightly away from the hustle and bustle... but a 2 minute walk and you will be right in the centre of it. The rooms are clean and the brochures say modern... I would say average..... Clean but very plain and nothing really unique. Although on the quayside the hotel does not benefit from as good views as hotels in a similar price bracket do. I.e Malmaison and the Vermont purely due to the location. I did not sample the food but my colleagues said the food was very nice and the menu had plenty of choice and was not extortionate. As you walk in you are transferred to another place. The glass atrium shows off one of the spectacular features of the hotel, it's view. The River Tyne allows for a tranquel background for a relaxing weekend break. When ever we go to Newcastle this is one of our favourite places to stay. The setting provides a rich and romatic setting that lets love blossom and the world around you to melt away. Location: From North: approach Newcastle on A1(M), taking slip road A695 City Centre. When we stayed at the Copthorne Hotel in Newcastle we had a wonderful time, except for one small item, the trains! The hotel overlooks the River Tyne and every room has a riverside view, which is quite stunning, however this also means that it overlooks all the bridges over the river. The closest bridge to the hotel is a rail bridge and all night long trains crossed the bridge and the noise really did become very annoying. However, given the choice I would certainly return to this hotel. The facilities were very clean and the staff had the traditional North East, very welcoming and helpful attitude.
