Usually I find that as you progress though a hotel its appearance goes down hill, the reception is the plushes part, then the lifts and corridors start to do look a bit scruffier and finally the room looks like it is from a different hotel than the reception you've just walked though. However I was delighted to see the Dakota was different, the lifts and corridors are sparkling clean and the rooms are great. While the room I stayed in was not massive it was by far the best at this price range that I've ever been in, at home or abroad. This hotel is just off the M1 at junction 27 and it's about 12 miles from Nottingham. It's in Sherwood Business Park, which has various new office buildings scattered around it. The hotel itself is very modern looking, a black tower structure probably around 10 storeys high (don't quote me on that it might be much shorter or taller). The initial impression is that's it's very new, clean, comfortable and well designed. This impression continues when you enter the reception.
