Advantages: Near to carlisle city centre, easy access from motorway,
Disadvantages: nothing from our stay
This is a 15th century castellated mansion, it is in the heart of Dalston village, a quaint village 15 minutes away from the historic city of Carlisle.
I stayed there with my husband for two nights, and dined in the Grill Room on our first night. The meal was fantastic, my husband ordered a porterhouse steak and i have to say it was the largest steak we have ever seen! The meat was cooked to perfection, I had the tuna which was freshly caught. For dessert I had the chefs recommendation of the strawberry cheesecake which was delicious and my husband had the toffee pudding it was fantastic.
I would defintely recommend this hotel, the staff were very courteous and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. This is an excellent country house hotel!
Summary: helpful receptionist, excellent food, wine advice
