Days Inn Rathmines (Dublin)
Advantages: Good location, clean room, friendly staff and fairly priced
Disadvantages: Rooms starting to look a bit tired.
If you're looking for a weekend away, somewhere close to home, I can't recommend Dublin enough. I went last weekend and had a brilliant time.
We stayed for two nights and chose the Days Inn hotel in Rathmines. This is a Suberb just three kilometres south of the city centre and is well served by buses and the Luas tram system. Most of the time, we just walked into the city, although we did get the bus when it raining. Rathmines is a pleasant neighbourhood with plenty of shops, bars and a small shopping centre.
I was impressed with the hotel, the reception staff were friendly and the room was very clean. There were a few niggles, such as there being no remote control for the television, and the room was just starting to get a little shabby but nothing really to complain about.
The room also had all the facilites I required, such as an iron and ironing board - which was good as I had stuffed all my going out clothes into hand luggage, tea and coffee making facilites, TV, Hifi and fresh towels and maid service daily.
The bed was also actually a double (NOT two singles pushed together and was very comfortable with imacullately clean sheets)
My only complaint about the maid service was, that the person must have dropped some disposable daily contact lenses on the floor which were the same brand as mine. I used them and then thought I was going crazy as I couldn't see! I worked it out after a while.
The view was of airvents, roofs, cabling and sattelite dishes, but the room was very quiet and we weren't disturbed at all.
The room was Euro77 a night, which is not bad really for the area and the service and hotel were just what we were after.
Summary: I was totally satisfied with my stay.
