Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: You get what you pay for.
The Days Inn is situated in a suburb of Dublin called Rathmines. Rathmines is a lovely little village all to itself, about 3km south of the city centre. There are seven or eight bus routes connecting it with the city centre and the Luas (tram) isn't far away.
The hotel itself is conveniently located on the main road. I'd love to tell you that the rooms are clean and well-kept - but on the occasion that my family stayed there they weren't, at all. The room, when we got to it after an incredibly long and bizarrely unfriendly check-in process, had a long table and chairs in it and had clearly been used for some sort of meeting. It also smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and given that Ireland has the smoking ban in hotels and other public places this was strange and extremely unwelcome. When we complained we were told that the hotel was full and they'd move the table and chairs but we'd just have to open the window to let the smell out. Given the hotel's proximity to a nightclub (it has to be said, quite a fun one - very lively and studenty) this was not the best plan.
Once the chairs, table and smell were gone, though, we didn't have anything much to complain about. The breakfast was great, and for 69 euros per night this would be ideal for people who wanted to spend as much time out of the hotel as possible.
Summary: good budget hotel for unfussy travellers.
