We live in Hertfordshire, right of the A1M at Junction 10, quite a handy location for London, and the north. We often have friends to stay and now that our spare room has turned into the second baby's room we needed a hotel that was perfect for when people come to stay. We are a bit old to bunk down on the floor nowadays and so didn't want to inflict that pain on our friends either.

The Days Inn at Junction 10 is the perfect overnight stopover hotel for guests, cheap, clean and convenient. Although it is listed as Stevenage North it is probably better described as Baldock services as these are the services at which it is located. We stayed their for the night a few weeks ago just to survey the hotel itself as I know the surrounding area quite well and we were pleased with the service and standard of room that we got. We paid about £50 for a Saturday night stay which I thought was pretty good value. I would say The Days Inn is probably not as nice as a Premier Inn when it comes to cheap hotels but still for just a place to bunk down for the night it is perfect, I am not looking for luxury when I just want it for the basic function of sleeping.

There was 24 hour reception which is always handy if you check in late or have been out on the town and need something in the early hours of the morning. There is a really big car park outside the hotel which is free if you stay at the hotel. If you just go there for the services then there is a 2 hour maximum stay without being charged but being a guest of the hotel allows you to stay for free which is nice as some cheap hotels I have been to either make you pay or have such a small car park that you can never find a space.

The room was a double with an en-suite and had a nice warm, power shower which is something I really appreciate. The bedding was clean and comfortable and there was a flat screen television with all the cable channels you want. We did not take our little girl with us but I enquired about cot beds as many of my friends now have little kids too (another reason why we can't put people cup in our house anymore, no space!!) The hotel does provide cots, you just need to ring in advance and make sure you book one.

The best thing about this hotel is the amenities next to it. Inside the services there is a Starbucks, perfect for that early morning coffee and muffin, a McDonalds, KFC, WHSmith and a M&S food and plenty of seating to go with it. Pretty much everything you need for a nights sleep.
