Worth a visit if you are looking for accommodation in that area

The De Vere Wychwood Park is attached to a golf course which is apparently very difficult, hence the reason why I did not set foot on it! It is not difficult to find, just a few miles outside of Crewe, but to be honest the immediate surroundings are a bit sterile - someone has clearly just plonked a new estate and a golf course in the middle of nowhere. This is very much a place to stay if you are visiting friends or relatives nearby and have a car - or of course if you want to play golf!

This fact is reflected in the price to stay at the hotel - it is fairly easy to get a cheap deal of no more than £50, and this is pretty good value for the standard of accommodation. I actually managed to get it it even cheaper than that, and at £29 for a double room including breakfast, it is a very good deal indeed! The rooms are fine, nothing special but perfectly adequate. I was a bit disappointed that the TV had so few channels on it - I tend to think that hotels of this type would normally have some Sky channels, and especially the sports channels given that most who stay at this hotel are likely to enjoy sport. However given that they are available in the bar, maybe this is just a ploy to stop people from staying in their rooms and not putting any money in the bar's coffers!

So overall a good experience - the breakfast was an added bonus and was typical hotel buffet fare but very nice, and the reception staff were welcoming and helpful. As long as you are not expecting to walk home after a night out in the area, this is certainly worth considering.
