Advantages: Newly refurbished and of a very high standard.
Disadvantages: None at all.
I have stayed at the Express By Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport many times and every time I have been delighted. Glasgow Airport is situated near junction 28 of the M8 about 8 miles from the centre. The airport is always full of travellers going to the Scottish islands and many have very early flights to catch and often stay here for this reason. Holiday makers also book in as well as business users.
When you arrive at the airport the advantage is that you can take a covered walkway to the hotel which is only a 2 minute stroll. When you book you will automatically be given a complementary breakfast which is very welcoming, and it is ready from very early in the morning at 4am onwards and is self service.
The choice of food is very good but it is continental and the only hot food is toast and drinks. They also serve evening meals which you order at the time and the standard of these is good.
The hotel has recently been refurbished and is of a high standard. It is very contempory and has a cosy look and feel to it.
Every bedroom at has air conditioning, satellite TV, high-speed Internet access, tea/coffee facilities, en suite shower & hair dryer.
We are often going to The Western Isles when we say here overnight and we have tried all the competitors at the airport. These include a Premier Travel Inn (quite good but a longish walk if you have luggage or you can call them to collect you for a small charge), a Holiday Inn (almost at the airport check in but quite classical and the rooms we stayed in were shabby-good breakfast though) and a Travel Lodge (need a courtesy coach to collect you from the terminal-you can walk but its too far with luggage) and a Ramada (very stylish but too far to walk with luggage and shares the bus with the Travel Lodge-very expensive breakfast). The Express By Holiday Inn is my favourite -(after 10 years of trying them all up to 12 times a year) it is a good price and has the convenience of being the second closest to the terminal. Only the Holiday Inn is closer but this is in my opinion not as comfortable.
Booking is simple, you can go to www.hiexpress.co.uk and if you type in the Glasgow Airport Express by Holiday Inn it will come up with the item where you can take a virtual tour of the hotel. Here you can also sign up to become a member of the Priority Club which allows you to gain points which count towards future stays for free. Booking through the cash back site Quidco will give you 5% back too!
If you want to leave your car they offer good rates as well.
To give you an idea of the price expect to pay between £50 and £70 per night per double room and check out their fly and park deals as they are very competitive.
The rooms are comfortable and they are tastefully decorated. The one we had last was painted in shades of cream and there was a large sunset picture on the wall above the bed. The sheets were crisp white cotton and the mattress was new and comfortable. The bathroom had a power shower and all the tiling was spotless which I always look at in bathrooms because I think it is an indication of the general cleaning standard.
The fact that we stay in the hotel not just when we are flying but when we are driving onwards to and from Scotland is testimony to the fact that I think it is of a high standard and represents good value for money. We often pull off the motorway to stay there just because we like it.
They are also very welcoming to our little Shih Tzu dog as well.
We recently were given a disabled room by mistake which was beautiful. We had lots of space and the bathroom was equipped with a seat in the shower which was very new and clean.
A great hotel.
Summary: The best hotel at Glasgow Airport.
