Advantages: Service, Decor, Location

Disadvantages: Not so much for families, No sports facilities other than golf

We visited this hotel earlier in the year, whilst looking at houses with a view to moving to the island. It was my first visit, but I felt that the hotel captured the essence of the Island perfectly.

The hotel is situated in Castletown, just a 5 minute drive from Ronaldsway airport, and 15 minutes from Douglas. It has easy access and is very sttractive from the outside.

The hotel seems isoated, but this only adds to the tranquility, and it has everything you need for a very relaxing stay. Although famous for it's challenging 18-hole golf course, the hotel is also very popular with tourists from all over the world.

During our stay we found all the staff to be very polite and helpful, and the general atmosphere in the hotel was stylish, yet relaxing. With traditional decor throughout, the hotel perfectly matches it's setting.

The standard bedrooms (twin) are very spacious, with a complete bathroom, kettle, hairdryer and satellite television. There is a daily maid service and the whole hotel is very clean and charming.
Because of it's location, the majority of rooms have beautiful sea views, and on a good day you can even see the mainland, so you're never too far from home!!

The hotel boasts 2 restaurants and a snack bar, all of which serve good food to suit all palates throughout the day, with a fasy and friendly service.
For those who aren't so keen on golf, the hotel has a fairly small, but sufficient swimming pool with a sauna and jacuzzi, which are carefully monitored and also very clean and well presented.

The hotel is quite pricy at £89.50 a night for a twin room during high season, but well worth the money for the services that you receive.

The hotel also offers conference rooms and caters for functions and parties without large disruption the other guests at the hotel, although we did find a longer wait for food and beverages on nights when there were large groups of
guests.

So, if you are looking for a very peaceful holiday, I would highly recommend the golf links hotel. It does not cater for children maybe as much as some other holtels, but aims to suit all tastes.
