Many London hotels are offering cheap rates at the moment,the Meridian chain is one of them. There are three in central London. The Waldorf, the Grosvenor House, and Meridian Picadilly. I have tried two of them.
The Picadilly is very central,buzzy,and everything you would expect of a five star hotel. I felt sure that the Grosvenor with a Park Lane address would be just as good.
How wrong can you be! The entrance hall, although very large, has seen better days.
The decor is very brown and shabby with peeling paint everywhere. A library sitting area has large,dirty, red sofas, and the most depressing oil paintings I have ever seen. Our twin room on the eighth floor was exactly the same, and also freezing cold. If you are looking for five star surroundings give this one a miss, the Picadilly is streets ahead. I have yet to try the Waldorf!
