I agree with other reviews it is a lovely building in a beautiful village....however the food was absolutely dreadful - the worst 3-course meal I have ever had, the staff were obviously over stretched and we very much felt on a conveyor belt.
Far from the experience we had hoped for. A real shame
I would not wish to give a star at all, but in order to post review I have to. :(

Christmas 2008 was an absolute disaster.........We asked for vegetables to be served seperately, as in previous years and the new management advised that due to health and safety regulations we could not have them in a bowl. You can also eat in the restaurant for a very sophisticated, or romantic meal; there is a setting for every occasion. Saying that, the table service can sometimes let it ... Read the complete review

The Haycock, Cambridgeshire is a swine to find in the dark, even though it is right by the A1, close to Peterborough and just inside the very pretty village of Wansford. Wansford is the kind of village that Americans imagine England to be chock full of. It has old stone buildings, a fine pub, a couple of restaurants and shops that stock crafts and seem to sell nothing at all. The Haycock completes the picture, as it is an old coaching inn that has played host to Queen Victoria and Mary Queen of Scots, although neither was in residence when I’ve been there. The hotel looks great from the street as it has a large stone front and gardens filled with ducks. ... Read the complete review
