Advantages: Cheap, good breakfast
Disadvantages: old, rubbish
This review is discussing my experience staying at the Heritage Hotel in Derby.
We booked two nights in the Heritage in Derby for £80 inc breakfast using my mums corporate account. Great value cheaper than travel lodge in the city and it includes breakfast. I used to work in the club near the hotel, and had been to the bar, very nice. Also I remeber my boss telling me £80 a room for the night, i was excited and expected luxury.
The Heritage is situated on Macklin street in Derby, right bang in teh middle of city centre, so no need for taxis, however the area is not very scenic, and a bit rough. There is a very small carpark, maybe 20-30 cars, not very efficenient for a 5 storey hotel. We couldnt get a space on day 2 after ebing out, we had to park in a car park, which cost £9, the hotel paid £6 of this, which was poor.
Upon entry hotel was nice and modern, got elevator to our room, told floor 5 although seemed empty. Room looked like had been decorated in the 70's and not touched since. Colured in a brown fake wood effect, with trouser press. was nasty. The window and being so high made me very dizzy. The bathroom was nice, rather trendy, quite small. was scared to have bath as was afriad would go through roof, very scared of heights.
The shampoos etc.. given in our room where rubbish, smelt funny, balmoral was the brand, in bottles that looked old. We spotted maids cart the next mroninga nd pinched posh ones for better rooms these were alot better! had dead sea minerals!
The breakfast was nice, all your usual fry up ingredients served as buffet, also toasts and a range of cereal boxes to take away. Then there is tea coffie milk orange and apple juices. Really good breakfast.
The bar was not open on teh sunday night which was rubbish. Also at 1AM the fire alarm went off and we had to run down 5 floors, as soon as we got down we were told alls fine. went back to room, and fire truck came right outside window, stayed ages and very loud, not happy.
For £40 a night i expected better. People pay more for these rooms and its poorly decorated, fire alarm and rather empty so why fifth floor then the carpark. Id say go to Travel lodge! Amentities much better!
Summary: A waste of time
