Once upon a time, this hotel used to be the jewel in Widnes' (admittedly slightly rusty) crown. Located in the 'Higher' Widnes (Where the posher people live) , the Hillcrest sat on the edge of a large estate, a prime location for businessman and partygoers alike. Its location sits between the small area of Cronton, which has 2 of its own well regarded pubs, and Farnworth, which used to be home to The Black Horse - Which is now in turn a posh restaurant. The closing down of the Black Horse should have strengthened the position of the Hillcrest - but it seems to have done the opposite - The place is now pretty quiet even of a weekend, it mainly seems to be a ...
