Hilton Avisford Park (Arundel)
Advantages: Near to Arundel, excellent staff and facilities
Disadvantages: Food pricey, staff in gym do not check medical so take care
My visit to the Hilton was for a spa day (we did not stay over so I cannot comment on he rooms). The hotel is located off a small lane that is close to the dual carriageway. Its location is excellent if you plan to visit Arundel or chichester as it is situated between the two. Arundel being lovely for lazy walks along the river and chichester has a lovely range of little shops.
The Hilton has plenty of parking space though the spaces are at a slant so as you will notice lots of people struggle to park in them! The hotel stands in magnificent well kept grounds that look stunning. On entering the hotel you are met with large wooden automatic doors which was great when carrying lots of bags.
Reception were very helpful and friendly. They walked us down to the gym and introduced us to the gym staff. It was here that we could preorder lunch at a time that we wished which was a nice touch. They supplied us with some fluffy towels for the pool and key for the changing rooms. You could hire a dressing gown&slippers for £5 but we were surprisingly organised and had our own.
The gym is very small and I was very surprised that they asked no medical questions, no form to fill in emergency contacts etc. In the gym there were two treadmills, two cross trainers, bike, couple of leg machines, medicine balls and. Weights area. It is very small so once four people are in there it feels full. The main machines over look the pool and each have a tv. Remember to bring your own headphones as there re no subtitles. A water machine is also located in here.
The pool is small but lovely and warm. There are steps going into the shallow end which was a relief as I struggle with ladders. Half way through the day half the pool was cut off for swim classes but there was still plenty of space. By the pool there is a steam room and sauna. Also a few seats and a table with newspapers.
The changing rooms are very small but clean. There are lockers which are a £1 to use which you get back. The showers were a bit weak but then I do love a powerful shower! They supply shower gel so you do not need your own. There are toilets and baby changing facilities in here.
At lunch the lounge was very busy so they seated us in the restaurant which was so peaceful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Myself and a friend had ordered pizza(£14 each) we expected a slice with salad and were shocked when two whole pizzas were served! The best pizza I have ever had! When we had finished the waiter asked if we wanted pudding straight away or a bit later. We opted for some time after such a huge pizza. This was so lovely as normally I find with meals out they rush out the next course. The pudding was chocolate sponge with ice-cream . . . .yum!
The lounge soon quietened down so we sat enjoying the views. Outside there are large games, outdoor pool and croquet but we did not use any of these. In the lounge there are staff walking around and ask if you need anything. We were given a jug of cool water which was a nice touch.
I was lucky to have two treatments a manicure (£26) and a facial. The room is very peaceful although I would have preferred some relaxing music as I find it more relaxing than silence. I was given a choice of nail varnish colours and I opted for bright pink. The nail varnish used was Jessica M but sadly it only lasted a day before it chipped. The facial was very relaxing and the Beautician gave me advice on my skin afterwards.
As i did not stay at the Hilton I cannot comment on the rooms but the rest of the hotel felt luxurious and welcoming.
Summary: A relaxing hotel with all the trimmings
