A friend and I had the pleasure of staying at the Hilton Islington in May 2007. We caught the tube to Angel and walked from there as it was just a short walk up the street. We arrived an hour or two before the usual check-in time, but the staff were very accommodating and checked to see if any rooms were available yet. Only a 'Club' room was available so they upgraded us free-of-charge! The room was spacious and instead of being a usual twin room, the 'Club' room had twin double beds which were very comfortable. I was fortunate to spend a night in this hotel a couple of weeks ago when I was down in London with work and had to stay over night. The great thing about this hotel is the location as it is reasonably close to the centre as Islington is an N1 postcode and it is located on Upper Street right next to the Design Centre so it is easy to find. I travelled by train and it was a relatively short taxi ride from Euston, about £4 if I remember right however it is also just opposite the Angel tube station which is on the Northern Line. Now this will amaze many of you but if you take a quick peek at my photo on my home page you will be shocked to learn that the bearer of those boyish “Tom Cruise without the manic grin” good lucks staring back at you has just reached his 40th year on planet earth. Now I owe my youthful good looks to a life free of sin and fast living however as not only was it my own but also my two best friends from my school days 40th birthday we decided to head off to London for an evening of jolly japes and high jinks.
