Advantages: Clean and well run

Disadvantages: London prices in the bar

I was fortunate to spend a night in this hotel a couple of weeks ago when I was down in London with work and had to stay over night.

The great thing about this hotel is the location as it is reasonably close to the centre as Islington is an N1 postcode and it is located on Upper Street right next to the Design Centre so it is easy to find. I travelled by train and it was a relatively short taxi ride from Euston, about £4 if I remember right however it is also just opposite the Angel tube station which is on the Northern Line. There are also a lot of buses that stop nearby.

In the local area there are a lot of shops, bars and restaurants although the hotel itself has a big dining room however I was taken out at night for dinner so I only sampled the food at breakfast time. Breakfast was a huge buffet selection which was really nice, the service was excellent and there was plenty of food as you got to help yourself.

My room was quite large with a double bed and it was very clean and well maintained. The bed itself was very comfortable and there were additional blankets available however I never needed these as the room was rather hot and even in winter I had to open the window in my room. The bathroom was spotless and very clean ad there were lovely huge towels that were really soft. The room also boasted a big desk which was ideal for work ad plenty of sockets for my laptop.

I have to say this is a very well run hotel, the staff were polite and efficient and even though upper street is very busy at night I had a really good nights sleep, helped by a quantity of wine, and my stay was completely hassle free and I really liked the quick check out facility in the morning.

If you drive there is parking underneath the hotel but I imagine it would be expensive and I think it is just in the outside of the congestion charging zne but I may be wrong. My company paid for everything so I have no idea what the room rates are.

Summary: Good central London hotel.
