Dont stop here it is a poor excuse of a hotel, i have stopped in a better B&B

Where do I start with this hotel, my self and my wife stop at Nottingham a lot and for a treat I booked us in to the Hilton, well what a mistake that was. When I rang up and booked I was not informed that there was a pool there that we could use for free, so when we arrived and was asked if was using the free pool and spa we was not to impressed as we had no swimwear etc.
We got up to our room and there was no view out of the window as these were boarded up, so the room was very dark. The bathroom was dirty with hairs in the bath and damp patches every were, and the smell was not good.
That evening we were subjected to loud music in our room and had not been warned about this. The tv channels were very limited so even this could not cover it.
The room was cold and when the radiators were put on they was so loud we couldn't sleep. I was suprised that there was no air conditioning.
We went down for breakfast and the food looked great, the best bit was the salmon slices, we was sat on the table opposite the kitchen, and witnessed the waitresses taking the jugs of juice off peoples tables that they had left and tipping them all in to one and then giving them back out. There was also staff pushing waste down in the bin bag then going and serving food with out hand washing.
We asked the catering manager if the knew what star rating they had and she didn't know and said she would find out and get back to us which she never did.
The question is, would I advise any one the stop there? or would I go back? the answer to both is NO

My partner booked the Hilton Nottingham Hotel, when he had bought surprise tickets for me for a gig at the Nottingham Arena. We travelled by train to Nottingham and were advised that the hotel is in walking distance from the train station, which indeed it is, however make sure if you are staying here you are aware of which Hilton you are staying in as there are actually two and going to the wrong one can add a taxi ride onto your journey.

The hotel is situated in the heart of Nottingham Town Centre and a 5 minute walk from the Nottingham Arena so it is ideal to stay here if you are going to watch a gig or show. When you arrive at the hotel, it looks really old and I thought it was going to have that old feel when I got inside, however when you enter the hotel, it opens up into a contemporary, fresh area, with a large reception desk in front of you, seating area if you want a drink and lifts to the right hand side of the reception. The restaurant is located give off the recption area. Checking in was no hassle at all, we had booked online and forgot our paperwork, however thsi didn't seem to matter and we were pointed in the right direction of our room within minutes and had been given a brief introduction about the hotel which is always nice to take in.

All rooms are easily accessible by by the lfit in reception and even though their is only one lift and quite a substantial amount of rooms, you never had to wait long for the lift to arrive. En route to the room, the corridors were immaculate, and looked newly decorated. Everywhere was very clean which is welcoming.

Looking on the internet at the hotel, the rooms shown on the photographs to me, I would say are a little deceiving and when opening our door to our room, I did think it was a little small, with not much space to walk around the bed. The room had satelite TV, tea and coffee making facilities, wardrobe space, however not many hanger available in there. The bed had a couple of pillows which were comfortable and the bed it self was not the best I have had but I did manage a good nights sleep.

The bathroom was very plain really and a little disappointing for hotels that I have stayed in recently, the bath was quite a decent size, however quite deep and if anyone has problems getting in baths, this is one that they would probably struggle to get it. Toilet and sink were on the back wall. The bathroom had a window in it, which I haven't really seen before for a long time, also it was not frosted, but did have a kind of blind in it.

We only ate in the hotel for breakfast as this was included. The rastaurant was bright and on the ground floor so you could see onto the streets on NOttingham. Breakfast was buffet style with the choice of the good old fashioned full English or Continenal, whichever you preferred, cereals, fruit and patries were also available. Waiters served tea and coffee upon arrival into the restaurant. We both had a full English, which you had the choice of Sausage, Bacon, Eggs (Scrambled or Fried) Beans, Tomato, Mushrooms, Fried Bread and Toast, all of which was very nice, and set you up for the day around Nottingham.

This hotel cost £80 per room per night, which isn't a bad price, however I have paid less than this for hotels down South which have been much nicer. I would receommend this hotel thoug, it doesn't really have any bad points that I can moan about!!
