I have to say, after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor before my stay, I was half excited and half dreading what I would find at this hotel. Luckily, my partner and I were pleasantly surprised.
We arrived at around 12 lunchtime and asked if we were too early to check in. The very friendly man on the reception desk told us that unfortunately there were no rooms in our room type available yet, but he showed us to where we could leave our bags. This was done without a problem. We then returned at about 4:30pm to check in where we were met by the same smiling man on reception who remembered us (amazing considering the size of the hotel). He said that as we had requested a non smoking room, and there were no non smoking standard rooms left, they would have to upgrade us free of charge. So we were given a deluxe king room on the 17th floor.
The bed was absolutely huge, the window had the most incredible view over the whole of London and everything was perfect. Everything was very clean and tidy, we had a massive TV, lovely tea and coffee making facilities, but the best thing was the view!Admittedly, the mini bar and room service were extortionate, but we just avoided them.
Breakfast was amazing - staff were incredibly attentive and just couldn't do enough. The food was lovely and we felt very well looked after. Luckily, we had this included in our room rate, if not, it would have been £15 each! I mean, there was a lot of food, so you could get your money's worth. It was one of the biggest breakfast buffets that I've ever seen with everything from a fry up to cold meats and cheeses, it certainly catered to everyone's tastes.
We didn't use the leisure facilities, but went and looked at the pool and gym and they both looked very clean and nice.
The location of the hotel is good, it's on Edgeware Road, and only a couple of minutes walk from the Edgeware Road tube station. We walked to Oxford Street and this only took about 10 minutes.
Yes the hotel is massive and the rooms are separated into different wings, but the staff were so friendly, we thought it was wonderful.
I would definitely stay here again.
The Metropole Hilton hotel is in an ideal location for both business and sightseeing. It is about a ten minute walk from Paddington station and fifteen minute walk from London city centre. However if your not up for walking everyday, it is two minutes away from Edgeware underground station. The hotel is located on the busy Edgeware road, however none of the noise can be heard within the hotel.
My partner and I stayed in this hotel on a recent trip to London for the weekend and were both really pleased with our choice in hotel. We managed to get the hotel cheap on lastminute.com, the total cost of our stay was £117 for two nights including a buffet style breakfast. This was cheaper than it would have been to stay in a travelodge!!
As already mentioned the hotel was in a great location. We got the train to London Paddington and it took us no longer ten minutes to walk round to the hotel. The Edgeware Road underground is on the Bakerloo line, which was ideal for all the places we intended to visit.
The hotel itself was lovely and the staff extremely friendly. We paid for a kingsize room, check in itself was very quick and easy dispite the vast amount of people waiting in reception. On checking in staff offered to take our bags to our room (although we felt a bit lazy saying yes as we only had a small bag each!). The room itself was very clean - just as you would expect from a Hilton hotel, there was tea, coffee and hot chocolate available within the rooms. Each room has a folder with all the local attractions and tube links. There is a lovely bathroom with seperate bath and shower and two sinks.
Although we were very impressed with the hotel room we didnt intend to spend much time in the room and it was the hotel staff we were most impressed with. Their local knowledge is vast, including all the popular tourist areas, tube links and which tube lines to use. Within the reception area they provide you with any leaflets etc you may need.
Although we didnt eat in the restaurant at night, our breakfast was included within the price of the stay and we were very impressed with both the food and the service. The breakfast was a buffet style including cooked breakfast, fruit, cereals, pastries, yoghurts, jams, toasts and fruitjuices. We had no complaints with regards to the food and filled ourselfs up every morning so as to avoid having to buy snacks later on!! The restaurant staff were very efficient, quickly cleared the tables and regularly topped up tea and coffee at your table.
All in all a great stay for a reasonably price, would definatly recommend!!
I booked this hotel for a weekend away with my boyfriend for his birthday as i had booked him tickets to see We will rock you. Also we had just got engaged so it made it a very special weekend for us. So we decided to make a weekend of it. We booked online through hilton's website with a special offer and booked a double room. Email confirmation came through and all was ok.
Once we got to the hotel which was in easy access to everything, we walked everywhere through are weekend. Having said that the Edgware road which the hotel is situated in is not very pleasant to walk down in the dark.
Once we got to the hotel we were told that there was no double rooms left and we had a twin room. I was not happy with this and explained i had booked this on their website months in advance as it was a special occasion and would not be happy in a twin room. The girl went and spoke to her manager and came back and offered us a deluxe disabled double room. Which we accepted and was happy with this. Then the manager came over again and said as it was a special weekend he would up grade us to their Suite free of charge. Ofcourse we were over the moon and the room was fabulous!!! We could not fault the staff they really pulled out the stops for us. And we highly recommend it.
The Hilton Metropole is just 10 minutes walk from central London and 5 minutes walk from Paddington station. It is situated on the busy Edgware Road. We have stayed there on three occassions and we have always walked from the hotel to wherever we have wanted to go.
We found that Hilton offered the best value for money on weekend breaks, and on our last visit we used Tesco Clubcard vouchers to pay for our stay. Hilton offer a family deal if you have two rooms - the second room is half price.
The hotel is very large and very busy. The rooms are standard hotel fair, but comfortable. The higher up the tower your room is the better the veiws.
The breakfast is great, but as it is a busy hotel you may have to wait for a table. The selection of food is vast!
There are a couple of resaurants in the hotel, but we preffered to eat elswhere. Opposite the hotel is an M&S, so it's easy to pop out and get a snack.
The hotel has a small pool and gym. For the size of hotel, it does seem rather small. However we used this facility daily and it was never over crowded.
There is a car park underneath the hotel, but at £30 a night it is quite expensive.
You are able to leave your luggage on the day of departure, after you have checked out of your room, with 'Left Luggage'. I suggest that you make sure your cases are easy to spot as so many people do this. At the end of a long day, you don't want to spend hours searching for your case amongst a sea of others!
We have enjoyed all our visits to this hotel and would go back.
My stay at the Hilton Metropole London was the most frustrating and dissatisfying hotel stay I have ever had and I’ve stayed at quite a few. I’m not sure if the staff were asleep or what but it took over an hour and several requests before anything was done. Let me tell you what happened. I booked in for a weekend with my boyfriend PJ. At the reception we were told it was a business class room, this didn’t sound too bad. But when I got up there I was badly disappointed as the room although well equipped was slightly larger than a broom cupboard. When we booked on the phone we were told it was a king size bed but this bed was a small double that took up the entire room. Also my expectations had been high and I had at least hoped that the room would be at least the size of the Holiday Inn’s standard rooms but it was not even half and they were charging a fortune. The bathroom was also tiny and not very nice! So not particularly happy with this, we were determined we would not be staying in this room for an entire weekend which would have been more suitable for a single person at a cut rate. PJ rung up reception to ask if we could change and was told to wait there. This is the beginning of a farce that lasted about an hour and a half. We waited 20 minutes but reception did not call us back so I called again and was told rather abruptly (and rudely) they were having trouble finding a room and to keep waiting. We had been planning on going out and were not too pleased at having to spend so long in a room that we couldn’t relax in, I am also very surprised that the Hilton hotel with 1058 rooms were having such trouble at 4.00 in the day finding us a standard room with more space. We got rather tired of waiting for a call so rung reception to see what was going on, the person who picked up the phone didn’t know the story so he explained and was told that we could not just change rooms like that. Basically
refused. After much debate and considerable reluctance on his part he got us a standard room on the 11th floor and said the porter would be up to change keys with us. Not surprisingly he didn’t show so after 15 minutes I rung reception again and finally he arrived. The next room was much more suitable but the keys didn’t work so the porter used his override one and said he would be back with a working one, 20 minutes later he still hadn’t returned so not keen to ring reception again and very keen to get out for the day, we picked some up at reception on the way out. When we returned later to our room we found the keys didn’t work and so it was back down to reception again to get some more. Yes, these did work. I don’t know what happened to the porter I suppose he just couldn’t be bothered again. We were very disappointed at the service we got at this hotel; at no stage did staff go out of their way to help us or even apologise for the delays. I have never been so dissatisfied on a hotel stay before and doubt I will ever be again. I will no doubt wish to stay at a different hotel next time in London where the staff treat their customers with some sort of respect. Some other bad points I noticed about this hotel was how noisy it was, not surprising with so many rooms, the queue for the buffet breakfast took about 15 minutes and the toilet paper in the bathroom was incredibly rough for a four star hotel more suitable for a public loo. There is a pool at this hotel but it is very small and very public. You open a door from the hall and there it is with the reception on one side of it, very off putting. Also it is a Living Well Health club pool so it is not just for hotel customers, you’d think they could have made it a decent size considering all these people use it, maybe not had so many rooms. It is certainly not a luxurious hotel like they make it out to be on their website This hotel has no s
pecial touches and looks any other standard hotel except the service is worse and they don’t care if you’re happy or not. I have learned my lesson and I will never again stay in such a large unfriendly hotel ever again. They really don’t care.
