Hilton Hotels are an international chain of hotels offering full service to their guests. Founded by Conrad Hilton it is now owned by the Hilton Hotels Corporation and has 10 brands over 3300 hotels in 80 countries.
Hilton all began back in 1919 when it purchased their first hotel. "The Mobley" located in Cisco, Texas.
In 1925 the first Hilton branded hotel opened in Dallas, Texas.

I had booked my husband and I into a double room at the Hilton Northampton which is located 15 minutes away from Northampton and is an ideal location for Silverstone which is just a 30 minute drive away and was ideal for our visit there the following day.
Car parking is offered at the hotel at a cost of £5.00 per night but this charge is waivered if you spend a certain amount at the hotel during your stay.
With 279 spaces there is ample parking for guests and it is a secure car park.
As we arrived at the hotel forecourt I have to admit I was quite impressed the hotel was a large building which looked fairly colonial in appearance, it looked to be a fairly modern building and resembled many international properties with the covered drop off point it really felt like a welcoming hotel.
When I entered the hotel lobby the reception area was immediately to my left. The whole lobby area was light and airy which is mainly due to the large automatic doors at the entrance to the hotel but plenty of windows really make it feel like a larger space than it actually is.
At the reception desk there are two areas to check-in, a Hilton Honours area for all members of the Hilton Honours reward programme and a standard check-in area for non members.
As we arrived at the hotel in the early evening there was only 1 member of staff present at reception but as there was no one waiting we were immediately attended to. The staff member was friendly and polite and after confirming our name we were provided with the registration form for us to sign and provide details of our car in the car park and provided with a pass to enter and exit the car park for the duration of our stay. We were asked if we wanted to book into the restaurant for an evening meal at the special offer price of £17.95 for a 3 course set menu deal, we agreed as after driving for a couple of hours we were both tired and hungry so we booked into the restaurant for 7pm and kindly declined breakfast due to our early check out the following morning.
We were then presented with a card to access the restaurant and confirming our table and our key card and charge card to charge items to our room and provided with directions to our room.
Overall the check-in process was smooth, quick and friendly and we were in our room within 5 minutes.
We were booked into a standard Guest Room at the discounted rate of £52.00 for travel industry staff, for an additional £20 we could have upgraded to the Deluxe room but having compared them both we were happy to go for the cheaper option due to the length of time we would actually spend in the room.
The room was very large at 28 square metres and as we entered the room with the very annoying key card entry system the bathroom was immediately to my right and I was very surprised at how large a space it was.
Containing a large bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin it contained all the amenities required for an overnight stay and complimentary toiletries by Crabtree and Evelyn.
There were clean, fresh fluffy white towels on the heated towel rack and it was clean, airy and despite having no windows was a nice space to relax in.
Moving back into the bedroom to the left is a trouser press and two double chest of drawers offering plenty of storage space. Located next to the bathroom was a double built in wardrobe with white wooden louvre doors which seemed a little out of place in the modern room but within the wardrobe was an ironing board and iron, desktop fan, blanket and extra pillows.
A queen size bed dominated the rest of the room with a very hard mattress which my husband liked but for me I like something a little less firm. White bedding which was soft and comfortable towards the bottom of the room was a large window that could be opened as required, a double sofa and coffee table and a large work desk complete with adjustable desk lamp and internet connection and telephone.
A 32" LCD television with pay per view movies is located on the double chest offering a range of freeview channels free of charge and next to it were tea and coffee making facilities offering branded refreshements by Nescafe, Twinnings and Cadbury.
The room itself was light and airy but was not air conditioned and at the time of our stay it was very, very humid and despite having the window open as far as possible and making full use of the desktop fan the room was quite warm and uncomfortable throughout the night and we found ourselves putting the shower on full blast on the cold temperature to cool us down.
The room was clean and tidy and all equipment was in full working order. Located in one of the chest drawers was a hair dryer, not very powerful but did the job all the same and a large mirror hung on the wall which was ideal for getting ready in.
The hotel offers an a la carte dining experience at "Seasons" Restaurant and we opted for the set menu at the price of £17.95.
We arrived at the restaurant which is adjacent to the reception area and had choice of where we were seated as it was a warm evening we sat next to the open door so we had a nice breeze as we ate.
We were offered drinks and I opted for a bottle of water and my husband a diet coke we were then offered a bread roll as we chose from the a la carte menu.
I opted for the Fresh Melon with mascarpone cheese and fruit coulis for starter which was delicious, really fresh and served very quickly. My husband selected chicken liver pate which he said was also very tasty.
For my main course I opted for the Grilled Salmon with fresh beans, sautéed potatoes and hollandaise sauce and it was a huge piece of salmon that was cooked to perfection and although the vegetables were not piled onto my plate there was just enough to satisfy my hunger.
My husband opted for the Green Thai Chicken Curry which looked and smelt delicious and there certainly was plenty of rice and side orders to accompany it to fill his appetite!
For dessert he opted for cheese and biscuits and I opted for a fresh fruit salad and I have to say the whole meal was delicious, served hot and quickly exactly what we needed and I could not fault the food or the staff very efficient.
We had also opted for a bottle of wine to have with our meal which was on offer at £14.00.
As we were leaving the restaurant we had a look around the hotel and in the lobby area was Café Cino offering coffees, pastries and continental sandwiches we didn't take advantage of this café but it was in appeared to be fairly tranquil and many of the business men at the hotel seemed to reside here with their newspapers or work and make full use of the relaxing environment.
Behind Café Cino was the Court Bar which opened out onto a small courtyard with a small pond and bridge, it was again a nice setting and a few of the guests were taking full advantage of the wonderful weather enjoying a nice refreshing drink from the bar.
Inside the court bar sky sports was playing and again some of the guests were enjoying watching the sport whilst enjoying a refreshing beverage.
We checked out at 8am but standard check out time is 12pm as we were making our way to Silverstone so we packed up our belongings and collected the bill that had been placed under our door and were greeted by a very cheery male member of staff who asked if we had enjoyed our stay and also ensure the £5 car parking charge had been removed from our bill for the excess spend at the hotel.
I checked the bill and it was all correct and at £106.25 I made the payment with a debit card and was on my way.
I would definitely stay at this hotel the staff were friendly and the hotel was quiet, I had a really peaceful night's sleep and the only disappointment was the lack of air conditioning.
A good location for Silverstone and Northampton City Centre.
Summary: A great hotel in a convenient location for an overnight stop.
