Holiday Inn Brentford Lock (London)
Advantages: Clean, good quality rooms
Disadvantages: Annoying hair dryer and poor toilet paper
My husband and I and our two friends stayed in this hotel at the weekend, as we attended the Rugby Sevens in Twickenham, and we were really pleased with it.
We booked the rooms online and managed to get double rooms for about £60 a night, which I thought was a great price considering it's location. It's situated on Brentford Lock, so it's a lovely place to sit outside with a drink. It also says on the website it is near to Heathrow and it's not too far from Kew.
I have no idea how to get there as I wasn't the one driving, and wasn't paying a huge amount of attention to the roads, but we programmed the postcode into the Sat Nav and it took us directly to their car park, which is underneath the hotel, and we easily found a space. There is a lift or stairs from the car park to the lobby. The whole journey from Bewdley (Worcestershire) to the hotel took 3 hours on Friday night (including one stop at Oxford services), and an hour and 45 minutes back on Sunday evening. The car park at the hotel costs £12 a night.
The hotel is situated right next to a bus stop, which is a short journey away from a tube station, so it was incredibly easy to get into the centre of London from the Hotel. It is also about 15-20 minutes away from Twickenham stadium on the bus, but we actually walked it on Sunday due to the lovely weather and it took us an hour and 10 minutes.
The hotel staff were actually a bit slow, check in seemed to take quite a while once we arrived, which was a bit annoying, and one of our keys wouldn't work so we had to go back down to change it, but that was done pretty quickly.
The rooms we had were on level 4, but the lift was very quick and the stairs were not too bad. I don't really like using lifts but it was easier with the luggage, but the lift did acutually have a window down one side, which enabled you to see outside and I found this made it feel a lot less claustrophobic.
The rooms were great. Our friends had a room with two double beds, but we only got one, I'm not sure what happened there, but for two people one double bed is enough, and it was fairly large. The rooms were immaculately clean, and there were various facilities. We had tea, coffee, a kettle, a fridge, hair dryer, a bathroom with a bath and shower, and lots of soaps available.
I only found two problems with the facilities in the room, one was with the hair dryer, I have never found it before but to make it stay on you had to constantly hold a button in, and as I have quite long hair it was impossible to dry it properly without getting cramp, and I eventually gave up and settled for damp hair. The other was the hotels choice of toilet paper, I don't expect luxury but it was really poor quality and very rough, I was quite shocked by the poorness of it. However apart from that the room was fine, and they cleaned it while we were out as we were there for two nights.
I didn't sample any of the food while we were there as breakfast cost £14.95, which I thought was a ridiculous cost for breakfast, especially as there are quite a few cafes and restaurants not far away. It definitely smelled good when we walked past the restaurant though.
We did have a couple of drinks in the bar while we were there and they seemed reasonably priced, about £3.00 per drink, which for London is actually pretty good, we paid a lot more in some places.
The hotel also includes a mini gym, but I simply didn't have time to check it out (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)
Overall I would recommend this hotel for location and quality. I would definitely stay there again, but I would just take my own loo paper and hair dryer, apart from that it was a good hotel.

Summary: A good Hotel, would recommend and stop there again.
