Advantages: Excellent location, decent price, great facilities, its clean!

Disadvantages: None whatsoever!

Coming from down south, this Holiday Inn was chosen because it was located in an excellent spot for the passsing visitor. It is conveniently just two miles from the city centre, and is just opposite the Wrexham Road "Park an Ride" which can get you too (and from) the centre for £1.70, at time of writing. Which I think is excellent value.

Aside from the location this Hotel has great features and services, if you can forgive its ugly outward appearance. It boasts a great sauna and fitness centre (if that's your thing) a bar (that's more like it) and a great resturaunt. There was full room service, and even 24hr room service on a large chunk of the "in-room" menu. All in all, the services offered would be akin to a far more luxurious hotel than a Holiday Inn.

The prices started from around £60 for a basic double, we opted for the "Business" suite which came in at around £80, which was still great value. The Business suite, had a large King Size, a desk, a sofa-bed, generous floor space and was decorated in a contemporary to modern style.
Basically looked like that Maurice "whats-her-name" woman from House Doctor had been through, it was all nice neutral colours and unclutterd.
Prices can be gotten at bargain prices if you book far in advance, and if you are Premier Club member points accumulation can lead to discounts too.

Staff were all polite and courteous, the room was spotlessly clean. I even ran my finger over the tops of the door, and picture frames to check for dirt. An I found that they had cleaned thoroughly.

The room was excellently equipped, Internet, TVs (which are basics) but also had a mini-bar, an Iron, a Trouser Press, hair dryer and a choice of pillows. I had breakfast served to the room, which arrived at the time asked for, and was of a decent enough quality. I didn't use the laundry service, but next day was available if I required it.

So in summary this particular hotel was certainly a good one, and probably a great advertistment for the rest of the Holiday Inn chain. An would certainly come highly recommended for visitors to Chester.

Summary: A great Hotel, Business rooms are a bargain for what you get..
