 ... numerous occassions when going to my room at night that gentlemen were taking ladies of the night up to their rooms it was very noticable and the reception staff seemed to turn a blind eye. Outside the hotel there were quite a few ladies standing on street corners waiting to be picked up, (I never got one offer!!!!while I was waiting outside to cross the busy road!!!!!) The breakfast was excellent, service really good and the waitresses could not do enough for you in fact I would go as far as saying it is one of the best...more

Often overlooked, this hotel is located within walking distance of many of the fantastic amenities that Glasgow has to offer and is fairly close to many of the head offices of the Life and Banking institutions that the city is home to. There was little outside noise at night (or maybe I am a heavy sleeper!), though walking back from the city centre after dark is not advisable for a lone female as the area is reputedly a 'red light district' though I saw no evidence of this myself. There is an M&S Simply Food and a Sainsbury's express close by for those forgotten essentials / extra snacks! I stayed at Glasgow City West Holiday Inn last new year and to be quite honest it was a bit seedy in the bar area,dirty ashtrays on all of the tables and alot of the furnishings were ripped and soiled. To be fair though the room was very nice and spacious, and the bathroom was clean even though the shower was a wee bit weak, power shower it was not,but there was always hot water so that was something.
