With Holiday Inn you can pretty much guarantee a standard kind of accommodation. I have always found them to be pleasant and really enjoy staying with the chain. Most UK Holiday Inns are former Posthouses. The reason why is because Holiday Inn who is part of Six Continents(Bass) bought Posthouse who had aroung 80 hotels whilst Holiday Inn only had about 20(counted them from the directory).
