This is easily the best hotel in Bristol and has to be one of the best in Europe (seriously its that good!) The hotel is a series of converted warehouses from the 1700's which have been converted into "loft style" bedrooms. The rooms are fairly modern and minimalist with lots of exposed brick walls, wood and white cotton. Each room is named after and sponsored by a vineyard or winehouse and i stayed in one of the champagne suites (well worth the extra) called the Pol Roger. This was a duplex room with the bathroom on a split level 2nd floor terrace. The staff were really friendly and the restaurant was out of this world, with what must be one of the world's most comprehensive wine lists. The sommelier will recommend the perfect wine for your meal which will top of a wonderful stay in an awesome hotel.

An interesting review. Really wish we'd given it a try last weekend instead of the Brigstow! You say it wasn't cheap, but don't say how much. If it comes in below the £150 mark I would say it's well worth a try - am going to look at the website NOW!!

Hi spirit, sorry for the SU, just a wee bit on the short side for me, though I was enjoying it, just a shame it stopped a bit soon. If you update, let me know and I'll come back and re-read/re-rate.

You know of course that is third in a chain of hotel du vins, the original of which is in Winchester and the second in Tonbridge Wells. I would agree it has a good wine list and some excellent tucker, but at that price you would hope so. I am a bit more of a down-to-earth kind of guy, and I find them all a little pretentious. You should check out the Red House in Whitchurch (Hampshire), now that is a hidden treasure. It's so relaxed, that you might even find yourself burping your approval at the maitre d' !!
