Hotel Jurys Inn (Watford)
Advantages: Great value for money - modern, bright etc
Disadvantages: None really!
We stayed here last weekend whilst visiting family in the Ruislip/Northwood area and we were really impressed with the hotel.
Located right in the heart of Watford town centre, close to Watford Junction train station and a stones throw from the shops, pubs and clubs that Watford has to offer the Jury's Inn is the newest kid on the Watford hotel block, having opened just under a year ago in spring 2009.
We got a great deal on the Jury's Inn website paying just £35 for the room (Saturday night, just the room - no breakfast).
The hotel has 3 stars but I would liken it more to a 4* hotel. It is very modern and bright, both inside and out.
The reception area was very swish, and the staff checked us in quickly and efficiently.
Our room on the fourth floor was lovely with a modern decor, LCD television, double bed, wardrobe and seating /work area.
The ensuite was very nice too, with a bath and shower, toilet and large basin. There were some toiletries provided (hand wash, shower gel and shampoo) but these were in fixed containers that were fixed to the wall so no walking off with the toiletries here! The shower was fixed to the wall but was very powerful (these things are important to a girl washing her hair!)
For £35 the room was outstanding value - exceptionally clean, tidy and modern with no hint of the "budget" hotel about it. In fact it looked rather posh! I particularly liked the fact the air con was easy to work and the fact that you could actually open the windows slightly - nothing beats fresh air, yet most hotels have fixed windows now!
If I was picking fault (and I may as well seeing as this is a review!) I would say that the bed could have done with being a king size as that's what we normally get as standard in hotels we have stayed in (and is what we have at home). That said, I had a good nights sleep regardless.
The only other thing I would say is that the bath towels were bath towels and not bath sheets so they were quite small. Again this didn't cause too much of a problem so i'm just being picky!
We didn't eat at the hotel but they do have a restaurant and the room service menu looked very nice. Breakfast was not included in our room rate and we didn't pay the special £5 each upgrade that was offered upon check-in so I can't comment on the breakfast.
We checked out with no problems and I thought the 12 noon checkout time was very generous
All in all a fab hotel that I would happily return to!
Summary: Great price 3* hotel that feels more like a 4*
