There is a bus stop just across the road and one of the tourist buses stop there too so very convenient for seeing the city. The nearest shops and restaurants we found were a short, pleasant walk away near the university. Rooms: The rooms were standard issue multinational hotel rooms. Planning a tourist trip to Edinburgh during the last week of the Fringe Festival proved to be very difficult as far as booking a hotel was concerned. In desperation we tried every major chain we could think of and hit pay dirt with the Novotel Edinburgh Centre. This review is based on a three night stay there on a bed and breakfast basis. Location: The hotel is very conveniently located right next to the Edinburgh Art College. It's a 5 minute taxi ride from the station and it's even walking distance provided you don't mind an uphill walk.
