This year, I booked for my family to stay in The Premier inn in Birmingham for the night before and after our summer holiday to Turkey. I had shopped around and found that it was cheaper to stay here and park the car for two weeks than it was to leave the car at the airport. It was a great decision, as we had a fantastic welcome and brilliant service which further added to our fantastic holiday experience.
On driving up to the hotel, I was impressed by the layout of the carpark. There seemed to be a great emphasis on security and all spaces could be observed from hotel rooms. As we arrived early on a beautiful August evening, I was thrilled to notice that there were lovely green lawns with wooden benches. Where you can sit and enjoy a beverage or two or three......(well, I was on my hols!!)
The hotel reception area was a nice size and well presented. There was only one person in front of us in the queue so we were seen to very quickly. The receptionist was very polite and friendly, making us feel welcome and appreciated. We were given the 'card' to our room and offered information regarding meal times and taxi availability for the following morning flight. I was very impressed that the receptionist offered to sort out our taxi reservation for us. Which she did efficiently.
The room itself, which was a family room. Was very impressive. It was large, clean and modern. The bathroom was bright and clean with a good amount of fresh towels. There was a large remote controlled television within the room also a telephone and kettle. There was also a kettle with complimentary tea and coffee. I was very pleased with our room. It more than met our expectations and offered a comfortable nights accomodation before our morning flights.
We all managed to have a very satisfying nights sleep. There was no noise from other guests at all. I also think that the fact you have to use your room key to get onto the actual floor is an excellent idea as it allows only guests to enter the actual floor they are staying on.
Our morning showers were great, with a lovely hot power shower. Also the availability of a hairdryer in the room was a bonus as it saved me from finding ours in the suitcase.
Our breakfast was fantastic. The breakfast buffet was available from 7 till 10. We were shown to our table by a very friendly waitress who was very efficient and accomodating. As a family we were so pleased with the breakfast on offer. There was such a huge selection to choose from. There were cooked breakfast options, toast, cereals of all kinds, crumpets, muffins, fruit, yougurt...the list was endless!!! and you could go up as many times as your appetite would allow. Also on offer was tea and coffee, hot chocolate, all juices and milk.
Not only was there food in abundance, but it was also cooked very nicely and served very warm which I am very fussy about. The restaraunt area was clean and airy and decorated in modern and bright colours. The waitress was on hand to offer any additional needs and even the cook came out to ask if our breakfast was enjoyable.
After breakfast we checked out. My husband had spotted a car parking space right at the front of the hotel. So this is where our car was parked for the duration of our two week holiday. The taxi the receptionist had ordered was very prompt and took us with no problems on the five minute journey to the airport. (which cost us £8). Our driver dropped us right by the airport doors. It couldnt have been easier.
I would certainly advise anyone who is flying from Birmingham airport to stay in this hotel. We found it amazing in terms of value and customer service. The hotel is very clean and accomodating and worth all of the five stars I am going to award.
I stayed here from Monday 20 December and checked out yesterday.
I was originally booked into a twin room, but didn't realise this til I got in the room. Called reception and asked to swap to a double, not a problem -- they even brought the new room key up to me, which doesn't sound like much, but saved me going down to come back up again.
Both rooms were absolutely spotless. Bathrooms immaculate. Well-equipped and had everything that a business traveler would need.
On-site restaurant had a wide choice of menu items; bar was well-stocked. Breakfasts were standard Premier Inn fayre, and I would say that the quality of the food overall was very good.
I was very concerned about catching my flight back home with the bad weather we'd been having. The hotel staff were fantastic -- they kept all guests informed of flight cancellations and kept offering to check all our flights for us. Throughout my stay the service was second to none, bearing in mind this isn't a 5-star!
I would definitely stay here next time I'm down.
Many thanks to all the staff, who made my stay a lot more enjoyable and couldn't do enough for me.
It really is true - everything is premier, except the price!
As I cannot find a review for premier inn at the NEC and as I booked through their website I thought I would post my review here. If any moderators have the ability to set up a review area for the NEC Premier Inn I am quite happy for them to move this review.
My wife and I have just returned from a stay at the Premier Inn, NEC. We were down for the Baby Show and we decided to have one night over in a hotel.
The hotel is about a 5 minute drive from the NEC but not walking distance. When we arrived, check in was quick and efficient and we were in our third floor room in minutes. And what a room it was! This type of room should be the standard that all 3 star hotels are achieving.
The bedroom was large with a huge bed that sported a purple runner in line with the purple theme of the hotel. This was a nice touch and immediately took the eye. The room had a large wooden desk with a flat screen tv, fan, hairdryer and ample wardrobe space. There was a single arm chair in addition to the wooden chair in front of the desk.
The bathroom was very clean and a large mirror and marble sink gave it a luxurious quality. The power shower was exactly that. I have to admit it give me a bit of a shock when I turned it on the following morning!
As for the rest of the hotel. It seemed very clean and staff were always eager to help. We asked for two extra pillows and they arrived within minutes.
We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant for our evening meal. The food was ok but not great. You're paying about £7 for a main course and £4 for a starter. The service was a little slow as well. But I really am nit picking.
After an excellent night's sleep we headed down for our full English Breakfast. I have to say we were a little disappointed by the breakfast buffet but I think we just arrived between fresh lots of bacon, sausges etc. Even so, the extra £7.50 each for the breakfast seemed a little steep.
All in all, this was a fantastic hotel and I would highly recommend anyone who's going to an event or a concert at the NEC to stay here.
