      Would stay here again

My boyfriend bought us tickets to go see Grease in the west-end for my 21st birthday. Been a typical male, I was left to book the hotel. As you would guess, there are hundreds and hundreds of hotels in London. I finally settled on this hotel, Travelodge London Tower Bridge. We paid £49 for a double room for one night, cheap for a hotel in the capital. From what I have read rooms do go cheaper but I spent months monitoring prices and never so them go down.

From what I have read, I believe the hotel is quite a recent development. When staying at a Travelodge this is something I try and look out for as it usually suggests amenities are pretty new.

      Location

The hotel is just a five minute stroll (unless you are with my boyfriend, who was positive he knew the way but instead ended up taking us to Premier Inn) from Tower Hill tube station, which made sightseeing easy. Everywhere we went, such as Piccadilly Circus, Madame Tussaud's was around a twenty minute tube ride max.

      Check in

We had to wait for a couple of minutes for somebody to appear at the check-in desk, but nothing major. She was very friendly, and checked us into the hotel swiftly, asking how many key cards we required before giving us our room number and briefly explaining whereabouts in the hotel the room was.

      Rooms

I have stayed in quite a few Travelodge's now, and although they all have the same basics, they do differ in quality. The rooms were quite large compared to some I have stayed in, and they looked very recently decorated in neutral colours.

There was no wardrobe space as such, just a rail with coat hangers, which was fine for us staying for one night, but would perhaps not be sufficient for a longer stay.

There was a desk, on which was the usual kettle with tea and coffee. There were only two electric sockets, both located by the desk. The mirror was at the other side of the room so this made drying my hair a little difficult but again, no major problem.

The mattress was soft, and to be honest I thought we would have problems sleeping but we were both in nod land within minutes of laying down so it obviously wasn't that uncomfortable. The bedding was all very clean too. One nice touch was the lighting behind the headboard, very modern and something I haven't seen in a Travelodge room previously.

Another modern feature, the flat screen TV on the wall, very nice!
One slight concern before our stay was train noise, as there is a warning when booking that the hotel backs on to a railway line. Our room was actually on the front of the hotel so this wasn't a problem. The windows were really good and kept all street noise out.

The bathroom was reasonably sized, not as small as some I have seen. As per most Travelodges, there was a shower over the bath which was very powerful. Everything was clean, the shower curtain, tiles etc.

      Food

There was a wide range of food available at the hotel, and a menu for the restaurant is available in your room. Prices are pretty reasonable, on par with a pub meal.

We never ate at the hotel, there are so many lovely places to eat in London it seems a waste to stay in your hotel, and I have also eaten at Travelodges previously and found the food the be awful. Just to give you an idea, breakfast is around £7 each at the hotel, we went to Wetherspoons and paid less than £7 for both of us.

      Overall

We could not fault the hotel in anyway. The rooms were clean, spacious and nicely decorated for a Travelodge. Storage was lacking, but we were staying for one night so not an issue at all. It was in the perfect location for us. London is far too busy and depressing for me, but if we head back I would definitely stay in this hotel, and have already recommended it to family.

10 Minutes from Liverpool street station, clean and friendly atmosphere

I have stayed at this Travellodge 3 times now and find it to be one of the best Travellodges i have stayed in! It is within easy walking distance from London liverpool Street train station (approx 10 minutes) which means it is also a great place to stay if your wanting to come to London for a night or day out.

I was a little worried when i first stayed here as it is situated right next to a train line, however suprisingly i found that i was not awoken once by trains throughout the night!

The travellodge its self is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a nice atmosphere. There is a bar downstairs that also serves breakfast although we did find this slightly on the expensive side.

The roooms are spacious, with linen and towels provided and there are also hair dryers that can be borrowed from reception which came in very handy! There was a tv, mirror, bottle opener, extra pillows, desk and small table with chairs in the room.

Each corridor leading to the rooms is protected by a key card scanner making it safe and meaning only guests have access to those areas!

This Travel lodge is ideally situated in the centre of London and within easy reach to the Tubes, i would highly reccomend it.
