Advantages: clean, friendly
Disadvantages: expensive, old fashioned
I stayed here in one of the double rooms, I booked it through a booking agent so wasnt too sure what to expect. I booked primarily because it was the cheapest room I could find in the centre of Oxford.
The location is excellent, you can see it as the train pulls into the station, and then its a 5minute walk into the centre of Oxford.
When we arrived we walked straight in and were checked in very quickly with no ID check just a surname. The woman was on the phone and didnt tell us the time for check out or breakfast. However we found this on a sign on the back of our door so it was fine.
The decor is quite tired and traditional, its definately old school bed and breakfast. It was clean, the heating was on and the bed looked well made and clean. We booked an ensuite room as we didnt fancy sharing a bathroom. However we did have a peak through the shared bathroom door and it didnt look too bad.
The bed was very comfortable and I slept very well, the breakfast which was included in the £80 a night was very tasty. We had a small fried breakfast, there were also croissants, cereal and fruit salad with juice and tea and coffee. There was also tea and coffee provided in the room which was great when we got back from our night out and fancied a hot drink.
The thing I liked most about this b and b was that we had a key to get in late, so we didnt have to worry about being let in at a certain time. It was clean, friendly but not too intrusive. One thing I would say is that we had to leave the radiator on all night as it was so cold! However there was no temperature gauge and it was boiling by 3am. It was a good bass for 1 night in Oxford. If I found a deal at the Malmaisson up the road I would go there instead.
Summary: It was fine for 1 night
