There are lots and lots of Hotels in Basingstoke, and having worked or stayed in many of them, i get the insiders view. If it's cheap and cheerful your after, why not try The Travel Inn, i know Travel Inn's are all over the country but lets face it, their great value for money as you pay for the room, not per person. It is situated next to a beefeater restaurant called 'the spruce goose' which serve excelent hearty meals at great prices.
The rooms are clean and commfortable and the staff are very friendly. They have no leisure facilities but are siuated on a leisure park so there is plenty to do.

For the upper class, there is Audleys Wood Hotel which is part of the Thistle chain. It's an old country house with extensions on either side to accomodate for all the guests, it's a very busy hotel so for weekend away, book well in advance. Althought it's set in countryside, it is very near the town centre (about 5 mins drive, 30 mins walk). There are deer, pheasants and rabbiits on the premises. A very beautiful setting when the sun sets over the grounds. Audley's is also haunted, I hav'nt said 'rumoured' to be haunted because I know from first hand experience that it is!
As for the rooms, they are of an exceptional standard. The two suites boast 4 poster beds, seperate lounge, 2 TV's, mini bar, free sweets, free sherry, great views, and many other great features that I can't think of right now! The standard rooms are very nice too. Each one is nicley decorated (all rooms have a marble bathroom) and the beds are probably the most comfortable i have ever slept in! A weekend price starts from about £90 per person. A bit pricey but well worth it. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the reastaurant. The chef's are miracle workers in there, the food is fantastic! (the restauurant is situated in the old conservortory).
Great venue for wedding receptions, just speak to the conferance and ban
queting team - they organise everything for you!
