Advantages: too many to list!
Disadvantages: none
The Canasta hotel in blackpool is one of my favourite places to stay in Blackpool.
Situated on the North shore sea front it is in the quieter area as Blackpool can get quite rowdy and loud, but it is still only 5 minutes walk from the town centre.
There is also a tram station just accross the road for those wishing to take a trip up the golden mile.
The Canasta Hotel is family friendly and accepts to stag or hen nights, only couples and families.
It is spotlessly clean and quite a large hotel.
The prices are very reasonable but do change throughout the year with the varying seasons. I went 2 weeks ago and paid £21 per person per night, which is quite cheap compared to some others.
The rooms are of a good size, very clean and attractive and all are en-suite. There are tea and coffee making facilities in all rooms, along with a hairdryer, TV, trouser press, iron and ironing board, toiletries and fresh towels daily.
In the sunlounge downstairs (which is huge!), you can relax and drink as many complimenary cups of tea and coffee as you like, while reading your own complimentory newspaper of your choice.
The is a hotel bar, open till 11pm weekdays and at weekends, as long as the party goes on for, although this doesnt keep guests awake as its away from any rooms. Regular entertainment is on at weekends such as comedians, karoke, and singers.
The breakfasts are fantastic and as much as you can eat.
Cereals, toast, full english, haddock, kippers, fruit - or if you are brave enough- the gutbuster- which is everything on the menu if you dare!
Whenever you have a query of question someone is always downstairs to help you and the staff are really friendly and keen to make your visit a happy one.
The hotel has a fantastic website too which you can have a virtual tour of all rooms, bar, lounge, dining room. This is especially good as you can view all the rooms in the hotel before you book in and chose which room you would like to stay in.
The prices are slightly more expensive for a room with a sea view, but this goes for any Blackpool hotel. Although when i have stayed there in the past we have been offered a sea view room with no extra charge if they are any available.
There is no set time for you to be back at the hotel at night, as you have a front door key too which is useful.
You can check in on the day of arrival whenever you like but your room may not be available untill 2pm. However we got there at 11am and the room was clean and ready. The hotel manager will lock your suitcases and bags away for you though untill the room is ready so you can go out for a while. On your departure day most hotels want you to vacate your room by 10am. The Canasta lets you keep your room untill 11am which is fantastic if you have children and need more time to organise everyone! Also breakfast doesnt start untill 9am so you do get a little lie-in compared to other hotels who start brekkie at 7.30 am.
All in all this is a very pleasant hotel, not rowdy, relaxing yet still lots of fun.
Summary: Great family hotel, great prices, great service
