Advantages: Plenty of facilites

Disadvantages: Distance from Blackpool

I've stayed at the Norbreck Castle a 5 or 6 times over the last few years with my children. It's a fair way out of central Blackpool and a taxi from blackpool north railway station costs approximately 8 pounds, there's a tram stop opposite the hotel and its between £1.60 to £2.40 adult fare to blackpool, depending where you get off.
It's a large hotel so you can have quite a walk to your room depending which wing your room is in. To be honest, I've never had a bad room yet though I've had a couple with not the best of views, but I don't go to blackpool to sit looking out of the window so no problem.
It's disabled friendly with an access ramp and disabled toilets around the hotel.
This hotel has some good facilites, a leisure centre with sauna, swimming pool and gym which residents can use for free, an amusement arcade, a games room with a couple of pool tables and a air hockey table, and a free 32 seat cinema showing films at set times during the day/evening.
There's entertainment every night in the conservatory bar, there's also a pub in the hotel with a big screen, and for some reason drinks are a pound cheaper here, and it's common to see guests buying drinks here and going back to the entertainment with them, I do it myself.
Meals are self service with set times for evening meals, you book a time slot every morning, breakfast is a two hour period where you help yourself so you can be faced with a queue here at times.
This hotel gets mixed reviews around the internet but I've never had a bad time here and it's a place where there's something to do and keep your kids amused if you don't fancy going out.

Summary: A good hotel for families

you can get rooms pretty cheap there by shopping around, the the brittania site is ofetn as cheap as any other. I've had family rooms there for as little as 50 pound a night for me and 2 daughters and that was breakfast and evening meal

I won a free night here in the late 1990's and it was dreadful! The corridors smelt of damp mops, there were electric wires hanging from the bathroom ceiling over the shower to name but two problems and the breakfast was like being in Butlins! It must have improved since then! Susan
