Advantages: old fashioned luxury
Disadvantages: can be noisy if they have a function
Blackpool is forever wrapped up in my childhood. The whole village would get on a double decker bus and cross the Pennines to stay in the same road in Blackpool for the two weeks of the "miners" holidays.
Now I like a little more luxury than a shared bathroom and weekly towel change. The Imperial Hotel is situated about as far from the piers and the Pleasure Beach as you can get, however the old fashioned luxury of the place makes it worth those long walks or bumpy tram rides.
Be very careful when booking your room. If you like a sea view try to get a corner room, they are much bigger.
Gentlemen are expected to wear a shirt and tie for dinner, even breakfast was quite smart. Breakfast is a huge delicious buffet, and the evening meals have a choice of carvery.
There is a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.
Note, however, should you visit within a few MONTHS of a Party Conference a security check will be carried out, so no sneeking off there with your mistress!
