Advantages: central location, sea views

Disadvantages: bad service, poor standard of cleanliness

I was not impressed at all by this hotel, the service is of a poor standard, staff were unhelpful (for example the restaurant was closed for refurbishment during our stay so breakfast wasn't available, however staff were not able to give us information on alternative local cafe's, restaurants etc).

The price of a double room for a Saturday night was £40, not including breakfast (obviously), and I must say I felt that we had been ripped off. The cost of the room was more or less demanded from us, in cash, upon arrival, and we were told that if we didn't come back from the cash machine with the money straight away the room would be let to someone else (this was at 1pm, and we had previously been told we had until 3pm to check in).

The room smelt strongly of fresh paint, and was not particularly clean. We even found dried up chips on the floor beside the bed! The en-suite bathroom opposite the bed had glass doors ensuring a clear view through to whoever was using the toilet!

We decided to stick with this hotel anyway as we were only staying for one night and were worried that we wouldn't find another double room in Brighton for that night, but I won't be going back!

My advice with hotels in Brighton is to book at least 2 weeks in advance - we didn't, and paid the price.

I'd have sniffed a rat with the rapid cash-point demand and gone elsewhere. Sounds like a crock of you-know-what. Thanks for sharing. I think we've all learned something!

Ahoy hoy and welcome to dooyoo!

Sounds like a nightmare. More info would have been nice though, things like location (I know Brighton, obviously, but near any good restaurants or attractions) what's parking like? Is is smoking or non? Was £40 a special offer, are there en suite bathrooms, showers etc etc.

Anyway... welcome! Fishbulb >><>?

It is so sad when our service industry thinks because a place is busy they can stop caring about us poor old customers.

You are right - Brighton can be very busy...

Welcome!
