Advantages: quite location, good pub and restraunt on site
Disadvantages: cant think of any
we recently stayed in the keelmans lodge , next to the banks of the mighty river tyne, this is what we found
the keelmans is a ten minute drive from newcastle center , and is positioned at the edge of a quite local community,
the keelmans is situated next to a public park and 100 yards or so from the tyne,
the accommodation is in terraced bungalows 50 yards away from the pub/restaraunt/
the bungalows are average , a little bit dated but clean enough and comfy with en suite facilities , tv , tea and coffee , kettle etc ,
where the keelmans wins for me is the onsite brewery !!
im not talking about a big scar on the landscape brewery, just a local small brewery,
the brewery is attached to the pub , literaly , and they sell there own beer in the pub as well as some more common brews,
the pub has a great atmosphere , and doesnt attract a noisy crowd ,
there was no noise in the car park late at night to keep you awake.
there is also an onsite restraunt , i can recommend the fish and chips !!
breakfast has to be booked , and is not in the price of the room,
we tried it once and found it good fayre but pricey.
the keelmans has its own website , definitely worth a look for somewhere a bit different to stay on a visit to newcastle upon tyne.
Summary: something different just on the outskirts of the city
