Sorry you were expecting an IBIS review. I have decided to delete my review and post it elsewhere. While I am not a particularly skilled reviewer, I am disappointed that only 3 people here decided to rate this review, and consequently have re-posted the review at Epinions. Unfortunately, I don't appear to be able to remove the review fully, and thus have had to leave you a 75 word essay, explaining why I have deleted this post. I was fed up one rainy Sunday afternoon and decided that me and my husband needed to getaway from it all. After seeing Grease in December at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham, I thought it would be nice to go and see another show. I chose the Blues Brothers. Birmingham is over 2 hours and 30 drive from my house, so we thought it would be better if we stayed overnight in a hotel. I considered the Comfort Inn again, but the prices were coming up £75 for the night per room. I searched and searched until I came to a site advertising Accor hotels.The site is www.accorhotels.com. Attending a conference in Birmingham, and with the rail timetable on the web giving me no hope of setting off from Norwich the same morning (suggesting instead that I get the last train the night before and spend 7 hours on Ely station...), I had to seek out something central and cheap. The Ibis fits the bill perfectly. It's close to New Street station (2 minutes by taxi, if that), and sits in the Chinese Quarter surrounded by eating places galore (mostly Chinese - ha :), a cinema and the Arcadian shopping complex. All rooms are £42 per night, and breakfast is a bargain at £4. The ground floor has an odd, vaguely unwelcoming layout - reception is off to one ...
