Advantages: CLEAN BEDROOM, COMFORTABLE
Disadvantages: QUITE A LOT
I stay in Blackpool at least once a year for a weekend break and generally stay at a bed and breakfast, however this year we decided to stay somewhere a bit more upmarket as i seem to be getting accustomed to the luxury lifestyle!
We decided to stay at The Imperial on the North Shore of Blackpool as i had seen it many times in passing, i have also seen it in the Luxury Hotel brochure so i thought this would be a luxury hotel. The other hotels that i have stayed at in this brochure has been fantastic.
I telephoned the hotel to book in and i was quoted £95 for a superior room including breakfast for 2 people. Excellent price for a luxurious hotel.
Upon arriving at the hotel, i was very impressed by the grand exterior. It truly is one of the best looking hotels - from the outside.
When we went inside into the reception/lobby area it was still very nice, quite a warm and homely feel. Check in passed without incident, our room was ready and the receptionist was friendly.
Our room was located ont he first floor so we decided to take the lift.
Here the problems began.
We pressed the button for the first floor and the doors only closed half way. The lift did not move and we were stuck. We had to prise the doors open with our hands in order to get out.
We reported this to the receptionist and she just laughed and said she would get someone to look at it.
We decided to take the stairs. The hallways leading to the rooms are well lit and carpets are in good condition.
When we went into the room it was a good size, clean and basic. Just what i would have expected from a bed and breakfast - not from a 4 star hotel.
Things got worse. In the bathroom the tap was dripping constantly, the hot water tap had to be turned round and round until a good flow of water could come out and to my horror the toilet hadnt been flushed.
The only thing i was happy with was the condition of the bedroom and the breakfast area all of which were clean and comfortable.
I would not reccommend this hotel and i will not return. For £95 i thought it was cheap for a 4 star, now i know why.
Summary: You won't be able to tell this is a luxury hotel.

- 22/03/09 First impressions made this sound like a lovely hotel, but it's obviously not too good after all. We are planning a short break to Blackpool this summer so will avoid booking in here. Good review. Carol x |
