The Lake District can be a wonderful place for discovering great little places to eat. Step away from the tourist traps of Windermere and Coniston and move out to some of the smaller lakes like Loweswater and Buttermere, and the range of small places serving high quality food increases considerably. One of our lucky discoveries turned out to be the Kirkstile Inn, situated between Loweswater and Buttermere. It's definitely one of those places that you have to know exists, as it's not particularly easy to find.
