Advantages: Very nice, a really good 4 star hotel

Disadvantages: Hot breakfast would have been nice

I have written a review for this hotel as I have recently stayed there a couple of weeks ago, but I have to say that it was not a Le Meridien when I stayed there 3 weeks ago, it was called the Hilton Waldorf Hotel?

I was going to down to London to see a show in the West End and so decided to look at accommodation in the local vicinity. In my search, it became apparent that the Hilton chain were doing a deal for their rooms at half price. We therefore managed to get a suite for the night that should have been £250.00 per night for £125.00 - BARGAIN!

We arrived rather early at about 12.30pm but tried to see if the room was available. It wasn't, but they offered to take our bags while we did our tourist bit round London. When I had booked the room online, I had requested synthetic pillows as my husband has asthma and gets wheezy with feather and down pillows. I double checked with the receptionist and she said that they had changed the pillows and duvet for us.

When we arrived back to go up to our room, our bags had already been taken up to the room. The suite was very very nice. We had complementary dressing gowns and slippers to use during our stay. The room was a Queen Hilton Delux Suite and was the biggest room I had stayed in whilst in London - the bed was huge. We had requested a room at the rear of the hotel as tripadvisor had said that there could be some road noise from the street. This meant that the window in our room was frosted as we were probably over looking a roof, or pipes or something, but we had a great nights sleep as the bed was so comfy and it was so quiet. The only strange thing about the room is the bathroom door is not solid, it is frosted?? Which means that if you are on the loo, anybody in the room can see the outline of you on the toilet which I felt was a little odd.

On our return from the theatre, we had a drink in the Homage Bar. At £9.00 for a cocktail and nearly £5.00 for a beer, it was quite expensive - suffice to say, we only had two before heading back to the room!

In the morning, we headed down for breakfast which was included in the room rate. It was only continental that was included, and if you wanted to, you could pay extra for a cooked breakfast. Again, this was quite expensive though so we stuck with the cold meat selection and cereals.

Checkout was very simple - only slip up was I had been investigating all the stuff in the mini bar, not realising that they have sensors on and get automatically charged to your room. I hadn't actually had anything, just got everything out to have a nose!

For a special occasion, the hotel is very very nice, old architecture, a real presence on The Aldwych and very central for all the attractions in and around London - a great base to explore from.

Summary: This was a great hotel for the amount that I paid for the room.
