No longer a Le Meridian hotel but now a Marriott.
Situated just outside the centre on Manchester-a ten miniute stroll and right opposite the TV studios this is an ideal hotel for the star struck as there's usully a celebrity or two in residence. Coronation Street and Jeremy Kyle are filmed at the studios as well as a host of other shows. The Science Museum is just around the corner and is definitely worth a visit.
It's in many ways a typical Marriott-well appointed rooms, lovely bed linen but has a lot more character than most Marriotts as the original building is a converted warehouse complete with exposed brick and pillars which rathen than been concealed are made a feature of in many of the guest bedrooms as well as the public areas.
The bar area is very nice, comfortable with good bar snacks and friendly, helpful staff (and the odd famous face enjoying a quiet drink after a busy day filming).
The resturant is very nice-overlooks the canal and for breakfast the choice was good although expensive compared with some of the offerings available in the city centre-but no-one expects a four star hotel breakfast to be a bargain anyway. Can't comment on any other meals as we ate in the city centre otherwise where the choice was huge-and mostly very reasonable.
I'd definitely stay there again.
