Advantages: Warming, charming, value for money

Disadvantages: None i could see

Last Drop Village Hotel is nestled in a village in Bolton away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. My partner and i visited for a one night stay costing just £105 for the evening, which included bed, breakfast and evening meal, with full use of the spa, pool & gym.

The hotel sits in front of a wonderful oldey worldy one road village with curiosity shops, village pub, complete with stocks and is so inviting. Our room was a good size, very clean, fresh and comfortable and overlooked a pretty courtyard.

After checking in, we decided to test the spa and pool. The pool was a good size and we enjoyed a good swim before going on to the warming waters of the spa pool. Wow, it was superb. The spa, with its bubbling waters was open on one side to a beautiful hillside view. Leaning out over the edge of the spa pool, it could have been pouring with rain, but the view and the warming waters would only dampen the body and not the spirits.

We spent a good 20 minutes having a sauna, complete with beautiful ceiling fairy lights, almost like a night sky. After all this, we felt very peckish and headed to the pub for lunch. Although a little on the expensive side for pub food, the fresh fish and chips was mouth watering and the lager was as good it gets.

After a walk around the village, we had a nap and got ready for our evening meal. We expected a regular three course meal without any trimmings, but we were more than pleasantly suprised. Starters for me was a very creative Chicken Ceaser Salad with a whole breast of chicken and a crisp seasonal salad, followed by fresh Salmon and chunky chips and a beautiful choice of desserts.

After another visit to the village pub, we retired for a good nights sleep. The only complaint being a whirring noise which i think came from the bathroom next door.

Breakfast was a full on English with a choice of continental breakfasts, lots of cereals, toasts, different breads and lots of tea, coffee and the obligatory juices. All in all, it was a wonderful stay and is great for couples for a romantic break.

Summary: An excellent hotel for a short break.
